I can't find my camera!

I have just taken a batch of pictures I now want to upload.

I have plugged my camera in as normal to the USB port.

Normally I get a pop-up asking me if I would like to upload and save my images. I get nothing. The camera knows its been connected to the computer as its screen has gone white. On a 'Task Manager' check it appears the computer knows its plugged to the camera and even knows the name of the camera.

But I cannot find my images anywhere! Not in the pictures folder, not in any folder. I am not suprized at that- I have not been able to upload them so they wouldn't be there automaticly, I was looking in the rare chance they had been uploaded by the computer without me knowing it had done so.

I have tried re-downloading the software- no problem. I then tried updating it and it told me the initial software is not there so it cannot be updated. I have no idea what to do!

Its a Fuji-film A900 if its any help.

Thanks!

Maybe buy a cheap USB card reader? Remove the card from camera and use the reader instead?

    Just a thought

Is the camera visible in My Computer? Or the camera's memory card?

Yes, it is visable in My computer. The computer even knows the brand of camera I have.

I tried clicking on this but all I get is a long list of things that are to do with the camera, eg applications and security things that I don't really understand. And then below the Fujifilm USB (left hand side menu) two 'Data Cards' which say "cannot open the cabinet file" when I click on them.

-PS, Tried taking put the memory card and putting it back in (after aimlessly waving it about in the air for some unknown reason...) it made no difference. Still nothing allowing me to get the images from the camera to the computer.

Does your machine have a slot for memory cards> plug card directly into that.

Actually I am now a bit confused.

See when I open 'My Computer' I am able to see that I have C and D drive and a removable E drive with images on the main screen.

To the right hand side there is a little list which says it has the Fujifilm USB port in it. If I take the camera off the computer and repeat the same steps...the same Fujifilm USB is still there...

So no, my camera does not recognise there is a camera attached to it.

    *Worried*!

I tried doing this but they are not on my installed software list. I cannot recall getting rid of them and cannot find the disk I put them on with. I can't even fine anywhere that sells them!

I don't have a memory slot on my computer, only one that connects through the camera itself which is not being recognised. Does anyone know if chip-readers are cheap and readily available anywhere?

Am starting to think 'need new camera'...This is a nightmare as there are loads of pictures and I just can't get to them to do anything with them yet I need to!

    Thanks!
