Santander cancelling their own direct debits - Watch out!

Options
Quick heads up, seems Santander are having 'trouble' with their direct debt stuff. They canceled my direct debit themselves, didn't notice my payment never went out this month and now I have a late fee, frozen card, credit score black points and chap on phone demanding payment!

So if you have a Santander card double check your payments have been going out, or you could be in for a shock and big pile of hassle to sort out....

Grrrr.. :mad:

    And the hassle of moving your credit card and bank account to a decent bank....

    Don't even talk to me about Santander and their dd's

    I was with A&L and in recent months have set up two dd's and neither have been actioned - nightmare!
    LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.
    (CC/LOAN = [STRIKE]36,378.98[/STRIKE] 35668.47. O/D = [STRIKE]1255.32[/STRIKE] 1212.35/[STRIKE]1999.78[/STRIKE] 1934.52, BUS = [STRIKE]9769.76[/STRIKE] 8714.98)
    Challenge = Debt at 31/01/12 = £25k. 2011 Payments = £1,944.19/£24,403.84

    There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

    Yeah, been meaning to move to another card for a while, as they've been slowly putting their rates up quite a bit recently... This incident has definitely given me the motivation to get this sorted now.

    Cant guarantee anything however I would put money on at the bookies that Santander will mess up again (and again).
    It depends on how much crap you are willing to accept in life.

  • Argh! That happened to me too.
    They cancelled one of my dd and neither they nor the cc company told me it had been cancelled so it caused loads of problems and additional charges. Not to mention me getting quite bolshy with the cc company telling them that they must have cancelled the dd because I certainly didn't! I don't feel too bad though because they were so rude and inept in dealing with my complaint and all previous (valid) complaints!

    Or don't move to the co-op.
    The service we have had from them has been appalling (although this is for a charity business account). co-op banking has got to be the best oxymoron ever.
