Any idea why Orange would decline my son?
Options
I have a contract with Orange, which my son has been using for about 3 years. We wanted to transfer the account into his name.
We have just been on the phone with Orange, and when they ran a credit check on him, it was a referred decision, and was ultimately declined.
Any idea why?
He is 20 years old
He works part time and has been with his employer for 2 years 11 months
He has had his bank account for 1 year 7 months - never been overdrawn
He has had a credit card for 1 year 7 months, is well within his credit limit, and has been late with a payment once in that time (over a year ago)
He lives at home, so has no mortgage/rent/bills to pay.
Why would he not be suitable for a mobile phone contract?
Very confused!

because he is young and have very little credit to his name a missed payment will likely carry a higher than average weighting, he likely wont have a large credit limit on his card and if he has missed a payment then the network sees that it doesnt bode well for an 18 month contract if he can miss a payment, also if he is only paying minimum a month or doing anything other than paying it off in full and ontime it can hurt your score as if you already spend in excess so you cannot pay it off in full then how would the network know that you can afford a mobile contract.
so if he spend something on the credit card pay it off in full and on time, make regular payments into the bank account, and if he already does thoes then wait until he is a tad older.0 -
Usually (or in the past) they took customers on after reciept of a largish deposit.0
