Scottish Power false advertising???

I think you need Colin to have a look at this. From my experience, tariffs are regional based on the GSP (Grid Supply Point) which for you will be _E for the Midlands region.
Perhaps SP have moved away from pricing in this manner? Or maybe it's just a fault?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Quick update.
Someone from Scottish Power called to answer the complaint. Apparently we are just a little bit too far north to get the rate quoted. Its a matter of a couple of miles.
Basically told we cant have the rate we wanted but Eon are probably the cheapest in our area so we should try them.
P****d off but what can I do!
I hope nobody else gets conned like this.

So, that means that their pricing is not truly regional. By regional, it is normally based on your Grid Supply Point (GSP), which in your case was Midlands. So, you should be getting Midlands based prices.
Strange one, but seems SP's prices don't reflect this. Other Suppliers won't all be like this as regional pricing was how the market developed.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi carlandjules
What are the first 2 digits from your electricity supply number? If your supply number is Midlands then it will start 14. You will be able to find this from a current energy bill.

We have applied to Scottish Power for a quote on electricity prices (home is electric only). The price on their site and also confused.com came back with a 26.8% saving on our current costs, better than any other provider. We applied for it and when we got the paperwork back the prices were virtually double our original quote.
26% ?
You need to put in your useage in annual kWH only and only look at overall total cost.
If you're trying any other basis of comparison you're just putting in garbage information and should not be suprised at getting garbage information out.
use the sites properly and you'll get a valid comparison. Problem with you not the sites I'm afraid.
Don't forget to look at cashback sites and take account of those addded savings on top separately.0 -
Same happened to us but after we signed up, we changed to scottish power and was paying £40ish a month for a while, then suddenly its £86 a month for gas and electric. I would like to find it cheaper but tbh its so bloody confusing unless you know how much power u use on a day to day basis. Also i don't trust any of these companies to stick to their word! heard so many stories about people changing and then after a few months suddenly their payment is double what is was. They are all basterds and don't give a crap about their customers, i'm so sick of dealing with these massive companies and getting no where, sometimes i wish i could just go live in a cave ...
Mmm checking out the site, which tariff do i have? theres only 29 different ones ot choose from lol!!0 -
I used Kwh and £ to get a comparison. Ive tried a number of different ways to calculate a price and both say I will pay 26.8% less than I do now, also confirmed by the tariff of 14.921p for 0-225kw and 6.448p above 225kw.
Electricity supply number is 12.0 -

Are you sure you are looking at the correct number? In this example it is 13"Now to trolling as a concept. .... The reason people's DD's get raised after switching is because they don't monitor their consumption and submit regular readings-they just pay (under) estimated bills wit their heads in the sand and then eventually an actual reading catches up with them. The utility co cannot estimate your consumption for you before they start supplying you! Basing it on a previous occupant or the size of the property is irrelevant.
If you put your annual kWh consumption into a comparison site, the process is perfectly accurate. You can get your figures by looking at your last 4 bills or by calling your existing supplier. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi carlandjules
I am of the same opinion as Premier, if you live in Shropshire then you are a good distance away from having London as your distributor. Don't post your full Meter Point Reference Number (MPAN) which will be 13 digits long as shown above. If you can double check if the number you gave (12) is actually the start of the MPAN for your property. If it is then I would like to double check this for you and you can send me your postcode to onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com and I will check on the national database to see what information is held for your address.
Kind Regards
