Dualit Toaster - potentially dangerous problem

Jammed again this morning - I was watching it.

Unfortunately spending £27 won't give me a top of the range toaster - each side of two slices of toast was toasted differently - ranging from barely toasted to almost burn't. Also my £27 won't give me a timer which is guaranteed to perform any better than this one - The same brand of timer is used in other appliances and has the SAME problem!

Looks like I'v got no re-dress - Tesco Value for me next time.

£27.00 is dualit's price, look on ebay much cheaper.
  • Dualit toasters are the biggest scam going:
    1. Cost £100 - my toaster cost £20 and I think that's expensive.
    2. Don't eject the toast, you need to do it.
    3. You have to set the timer each and every time, and it has so much slop in it that you can't get the same time anyway.
    4. The timers frequently stall just before the end, leaving the elements on.
    5. The elements burn out with alarming regularity.
    6. Take up as much room as a small microwave.

Two places I have worked at had these toasters, and I was tasked with keeping them in working order. We were spending more than the cost of a new, normal toaster every 6 months on these, either on timers or elements.

    1. You pays your money and takes your choice!
    2. The whole point of the Dualit NOT ejecting the toast is to keep it warm!
    3. Setting timer doesn't take up much time, mine has no slop and I get perfect toast each and every time. Bad workman blaming his tools?
    4. Never had my timer stall in 5 years of using it!
    5. Never had an element burn out on my in 5 years of using it!
    6. Depends entirely on what size of toaster you buy!

Dualit is rubbish, I had one a few years ago and it is no better than any number of cheap toasters I've had in the past.

I've got a Bosch one now which is much better.

What sort of plonker are you? You state that the toaster is potentially dangerous then carry on using it. :wall:So if the brakes on your care were potentially dangerous would you carry on driving it?

There is no need to personally abuse me - I actually only asked for consumer advice, not personal insults. For you information, I am using the toaster in accordance with the Dualit instructions and advice from their customer services.

Actually I wasn't - where did I state that I wanted a new toaster?? don't judge people by your own standards. All I expected was a replacement timer that worked, not the offer of one for £27 that will be no better than the one I have.
