Handwriting can make difficulties too. :). If you think this might be an issue, type and print addresses rather than write them.

Saying that, most of the stuff I've had is all OK and I've only had one item never turn up as a buyer, so it's by no means that common. Just if you have a spate of INR, you need to check what you're doing with the address at your end too.

I tend to print the address onto a sheet of paper, then stick that to the parcel, making sure that there is sticky tape completely covering the paper. Rain proof.

I also print my labels and sellotape them on for several reasons. Firstly it means no on ehas to suffer my handwriting, secondly I only show what buyer has given me..as I have been accused before now of changing their address yet have merely printed from paypal. Lastly I use a lot of plastic mailing sacks and as I use actual postage stamps I need the paper bit to stick the stamps onto. So I tape over the address bit, secure the rest of the paper and then stick stamps on to the bit with no sellotape.

All sorts of things can happen with 'lost parcels'. I had an item go missing this last week. Paid on 9th Oct. Asked for whereabouts on 19th October. Refunded on 20th october.

On 21st October I received a item under paid royal mail card. Collected on 23rd Oct. It was the missing item! Postage on item actually dated 17th October (confused smiley!)

Honest me emailed buyer and I have paid the difference between postage underpayment plus fee and actual amount I was refunded.

    Most complicated transaction ever!

Thanks for all above. Address was well labelled - stuck on with sellotape and clearly written indelible marker on package so no issue there. Checked at PO last week and told could not claim until 2 weeks after item supposed to be there which would be about now I suppose. In meantime I have received email from buyer to state tracking has now changed to return to sender- not sure when that happened, and for me to arrange to send on when I get item. I have not received returned item. Does this now mean I can't claim off Royal Mail? On reading their t and c's it seems return to sender claims are not covered for compensation for loss. I have asked if they have received a "while you were out" card and await reply. Am I just going to have to take the hit for this? and put down to experience? Is there anything else I can do to track down the parcel? I have read that all undeliverable parcels go to a depot somewhere- how can I contact them to ask if they have it?

if its changed to RTS then its either uncollected or incomplete address/addressee unknown
you wont be able to claim from RM IF you get the item back
does it have a return address on it?

Thread-napping as this one seems appropriate and to save opening a new one.

A friend of mine bought some boots, they turned out to be damaged and would cost more to repair than she paid, so she contacted the seller, huffy seller didn't want to take boots back and refund so friend opened SNAD, then sent them back recorded delivery, friend now says that it looks like delivery attempt failed and parcel is awaiting collection. What happens if the seller doesn't collect and the parcel is returned to my friend? Is this a way for sellers to avoid giving refunds?

If the tracking shows as attempted delivery then the buyer will win the dispute.
