Orange completley unhelpful.

My wife was mugged recently and her handbag stolen. Her contact phone was stolen, she quickly closed it down with Orange and prevented futher use of it. At the time it was stolen their was 250 mins in credit and she has to continue to pay the £25 a month until the end of the contract. ( 11 Mar 05). Orange's attitude because it is not insured with them seems to be tough, they will not issue a new sim card or transfer the minutes to our other phone an Orange PAYG phone. I know the contract has only a month to go but surley they have to provide some service for the money they continue to recieve.

Thank you

  • I have found that with Orange a lot depends on who you speak to. If you ask to be put through to the disconnections department and explain the problem to them you might get a different reaction.

Alternately ask for the department that deals with reports of theft and give them the Crime Reference Number that you got when you reported it to the police. Say it is hardly your poor wife's fault that she suffered such a horrible experience.

Hope she is soon on the mend.

they should normally issue a new sim card for the contract for £20 or so which you can use in another phone

Ask Orange to change the tariff to the OVP Vodafone Business tariff for the remainder of the contract. The tariff is £14 per month.

I lost my phone recently and had to pay £15 for Orange to issue me with a new SIM card. It arrived the next day, I got it activated and was up and running within the hour! I can't believe that they're refusing to issue you with a new SIM card, or are you just not willing to pay for one?
  • Not very likely that swifty would want to pay £15-20 for a new sim for 'one month'!!!!! I think they should issue them free really as it can't cost them that much!

If anyone does need a new one for some reason the best reason to give is 'my sim card is faulty' then they have to issue you a free one!!! Just make something up like you've tried it in lots of phones and it keeps not showing up any signal etc etc
