empty pockets-what a very rude, arrogant person you are.i was asking for advice and if it had happened to anyone else, thats all but oops, sorry boss,i didnt mean to break the rules.
you say immediate visit to vets, you must be lucky where you live as they are all shut here.plus for your information the vet has already now been out so dont shout me down as if i dont care about my dog as i got straight on the phone and asked for urgent call out after my post.i just wanted help and advice from people that may have been in the same situation, thats all but dont worry-i wont bother next time as i didnt realise there would be someone ready to clobber me for it.
its people like you that are ready to pounce that put people off these forums.i thought they were only on the benefits board but now theres one here too !! thanks for just making my evening the saddest in a long long time.

Hi, lady lumps, really hope your dog is ok *hugs*

I agree empty pockets thats a very harsh post, really not needed when all she is asking for is advice, she clearly loves her dog and just panicked and thought maybe someone would perhaps reply quickly on here who had been in a similar situation, what did the vet lady lumps?

I don't think Emptypockets was being harsh, naturally the OP was upset and may have omitted crucial information (eg the vet had been contacted) , it was certainly the way I read the original post, and can see EP's point.
Indeed during that time nobody had offered to share their experience to say that similar has happened to their pet and all was ok.
But do take note of Ep's idea that the internet and forums will only lead you to further panic and fear, eg find a lump on your body and the internet will tell you that you have cancer! :o

Unfortunately in the first post the OP asks if she should call the vet and in the second confirms that she posted first and then called the vet.
  • Come on folks, can we not have a tirade about this!

In a situation like that it is easy to panic and not think clearly. There is nothing as upsetting as seeing your dog fit like that and I know I was in one hell of a state when my dog first started having them.

Trouble with the t'internet is that just with typed words, you don't get any voice inflection so in the state of upset our OP was in, it wouldn't have been hard to feel got at without realising that the poster was just trying to advise and be helpful!

But let's not carry this on .... the most important thing is to find out how the dog is now!

Agreed pud, but to insult another poster is bang out of order.

Of course we all hope and pray the OP`s dog is ok that does without saying. I hate to think any animal is suffering, so lets keep our fingers crossed for the poor wee thing.

Yup, I know it is ... but I also know what kind of state the OP will have been in (and probably still is in!).

After the first few times with my dog, I became an old pro at handling it, but that first time I went to pieces.

Please OP come back and let us know how your dog is and what the vet said!

my lab just walked into the lounge ,laid down in front of my husband and myself and suddenly her eyes rolled back and her head and neck twisted to the side as this was happening.i panicked and started crying and shouted for my hubby to come and help her with me.
this carried on for a couple of mins and then she seemed to go back to normal.i thought she was dying.it seemed like she felt unwell and came to us for help.
is it a stroke.do i need to call a vet out or see how she goes??im heartbroken at this and wondered if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone can advise?thankyou.

Going back many many years now when our GSD was a few years old he had quite a few funny 'turns'. He would spasm, his eyes roll back and several other strange things. We had him checked out with the vet, blood test and all sorts with no result. When these 'turns' happened our dog was also quite stressed.
What we used to do was cover his head with a cloth to block out light, hold him, talk to him until it passed.
He had quite a few of these over a period of time then they stopped and we never saw one again.

Your vet will advise and hopefully set your mind at ease.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • Just popping in to agree with the posters who mention epilepsy ( i have posted before about my beloved epileptic Staffy) - definitely see the vet as soon as possible, but it is also common ( as someone has mentioned) for a youngish dog to have one or two fits and then never have them again. My dog leads a happy life (has me right where he wants me) as its manageable with medication, but it may not come to that. I know how frightening it is, so you and the dog have my sympathy ( nb has anyone mentioned that the dog isn't actually aware of what is happening during the fit? It looks terrifying but they aren't properly conscious so don't feel it - so my vet tells me). Let us know how she gets on.

Oh please - that post is rather immature! Not once did I personally insult you, or make assumptions about you as a person.

I am well aware of what time veterinary surgeries close, hence I used the words emergency appointment. And you still admit to coming on an internet forum before asking for an 'urgent call out'.

I DID say in my post that I didn't mean to sound harsh: however, when it comes to the health and wellbeing of animals I couldn't give a damn whether you think my attitude is rude, or arrogant. I did also say that I hoped everything went ok - you just read it how you wanted to read it because I happened to state the most basic of forum rule - asking for medical advice is not allowed. And that IS what you were doing.

I am not a rude person, nor am I arrogant. I don't make posts with the intention of insulting or upsetting people, but neither do I tiptoe around and patronize people. This isn't the first time you've come here asking for medical advice before seeing a vet with your animal - I suspect this thread will be locked just as that one was.

I hope your dog is ok. That IS the main thing here, isn't it?

    Guys guys.

I personally think that no insult/malice is/was intended on all sides here.

Ladylumps45 may well have panicked and dived onto here quickly in order to ask about the situation and not realised about 24/7 care

EP is not a malicious or arrogant poster on this forum as I can testify.

As pet owners, I think we'd all agree, that the most important thing here is the wellbeing of our furry ones, and some people may, just may, not have access to 24 hour vet care like others, but seek advice from alternative sources. While I agree t'internet may not be the best way, for some it could be the only way until medical advice is found.

Let's not fall out here and kiss and make up. :kisses3:

    How is hound btw?
That's my mutt in the picture above.
