I'm an idiot.
I bought something in tesco today as a main Christmas present as it was £20 off. Got overcharged and instead if paying for it and getting double the difference, I told her the price was wrong before i paid. Then I remembered. I'm so incredibly annoyed at myself!0 -

You are just an honest person, not an idiot.
Have a lovely holiday with your friends. You really deserve it after a year of ups and downs. And don't worry too much about the petrol; it is going to get used in any case so try to put all your money worries out of your mind for a few days.

Thanks chocs, I've stopped beating myself up a little now!
Ds and I are now back home after spending a week with my parents. My mum is recovering amazingly well, we just live in fear of it happening again.
Obviously I missed Hubby, but I sm so sad to be back here. I love our house but this feels do far from home to me and so lonely. I've been surrounded by friends and family all week and suddenly it feels very quiet and very empty.
Back to the finances, and hubby transferred an extra £100 to the bank account last night. I feel bad as most of it was birthday money he'd received, but as he said, I do exactly the same with any birthday money I receive. I still feel bad though.
I just checked the accounts and there's still £110 in our grocery account which is great for us! Some of that can go towards buying groceries for our trip. My big sister kindly gave me £20 before I left home towards petrol, so I'll use that towards next week's petrol. I had to put £50 in again this morning and after a 3 hour drive, there's around half a tank left which should see us through until after the weekend hopefully.
Whilst at home, we picked up some lovely bits for Ds at a local car boot sale. Clothes in bigger sizes for when he's older - all of which are immaculate - some beautiful books and a few toys; most of these were 50p, so a real bargains! I'm quite fussy too, but everything was in such good condition and has all now been washed anyway so absolutely brilliant for both Ds and for our finances! I wish there was one like that near us as I'd go a lot more often. The car boots near us always look so grubby and full of junk so I don't go to them anymore.
In the middle of the night last night, (Ds not had a very good week sleep-wise, so I've had very little sleep for a week!), I remembered that I'd put a bin bag full of Ds's clothes in the loft 3 or 4 months ago that were around 1 year up. I'll have to get the bag down and sort through it as Ds is very long and is in clothing in bigger sizes than his age. He is outgrowing things rapidly now. Tonight i sorted out more things that were too small for him including 3 sleepy bags. I recently bought two bigger ones on eBay but was a bit disappointed with them as they were not as big as they looked. I'll have to look out for a couple of other ones for him and resell those. Talking of eBay, I now have loads of stuff to go on there; baby toys, clothes, baby equipment etc. I shall wait until we come back from our break to list them as I don't want to be away whilst the listings are active.
Need to get to sleep now... For how long, who knows!

Not a good night of sleep, now attempting to get Ds to nap, much to his disapproval.
Forgot to mention before that I have now transferred the cc balance to barclaycard with 0% interest for 20 months. Now have to try to use it as little as possible.
Dinner is prepped and in the slow cooker for tonight, first load of washing's on and now need to hang as much as possible on the airer to avoid using tumble dryer.
It's a day in the house today for us. I have loads to do but doubt Ds will let me get much done!0 -
Two loads of washing done and one on airer, had to use dryer for sccond load unfortunately.
I've arranged for a refund on an item I'd ordered which I saw on the grabbit board, but decided it wasn't an essential, so that's £50 back in the account.
I've sorted Ds's moneybox and counted all his coins up ready to put in his post office account. My family gave him some bags of coins and it wouldn't all fit in his moneybox! There's another £15 heading into his account when I get to the post office. I'm determined we shall build up a nice savings pot for his future, even though we have very little money to spare.
We've meal planned our half of the meals for next week and I've started to write a shopping list. This should make it much cheaper. Our friends ate on board for keeping it cheap too, even though they warn a lot mire money than we do.
Our sealed pot is almost full! We have been saving odd change in there all year, even a couple of notes snuck in too! We discussed using it for our holiday next week, but I'd really like to bank it and save it I think. I'll see what hubby says later.
Tonight I need to check for surveys as I need one more for a payout. I also need to go in the loft and get the bag of Ds's clothes down to sort. I'm hoping to try and get some of the Christmas presents I've bought sorted so I can store them away.

Have just updated the total debt in signature to reflect balance transfer fee of £27. Decided to try and convince hubby to let us pay sealed pot contents towards cc bill. It was meant to be 'fun money' though so he won't be keen!
Decided to try and save £2 coins now as well as small change. 2 that were in my purse have gone in a pot already.0 -
Today is another day in the house for me and Ds. It will be a record if I manage two days in a row! It means I don't end up at the shops or using petrol unnecessarily which can only be a good thing.
One load of washing has finished and will be going on the airer. I might even brave hanging it out as it doesn't look so much like rain today, just very windy.
Annoyingly, I think i've left my phone charger at my parents house. I will have another look round today, hope I find it as I don't want to waste money buying another.
Today I shall try and sort out our spare room. I've dumped loads of stuff in there on the bed and it looks a mess and is annoying me. A lot of it is stuff to eBay, but I need to find a better home for it temporarily.
I also want to empty and count our sealed pot now that it's full. Hubby agrees that we should put most, if not all, of it towards the credit card bill so I want to go ahead and get another little chunk paid off.0 -
Hi DFSD
Hope you got the spare room sorted out. When do you go on holiday?
I've had a busy day today; I had to travel to about 50 miles for a medical appointment which went well. This was in a city is very pleasant to wander around and whilst I was there, I did 3 MSs and got a bit of shopping (I'll gloss over the amount spent on new underwear as some of mine was looking, well, let's say, tired). I went to an exercise class earlier this evening and, after a few months of not doing much, it was really hard work. I think it was one of the longest hours of my life! So I am sat here trying to summon up the energy to finish a few things off before I collapse into bed. At least I should sleep well.

Well I didn't get a lot of the above done yesterday. The washing's done; the summer furniture bits have been stored away in our garage attic and I've managed to nearly finish the work I'm doing for a family member, which is a very time consuming, fiddly job.
It's now 4am and we're wide awake, so you can guess that Ds is not having a very good night again. He has a doctor's appointment today and we also have to go out and about to pick up quite a few things so I hope we get a bit more sleep yet!0 -
It sounds like you still had a productive day yesterday, even if it wasn't doing the things you planned to do.
Hope it goes well at the doctors.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000
