Sainsburys - Faulty Blender - Lost Receipt - Help Needed

My wife bought a new Anthony Worrall Thompson Blender from our local Sainsburys store earlier this year.
She bought it along with the weekly shop and therefore it was on the grocery tilll receipt.
This receipt was subsequently binned as usual without remembering the blender purchase was on it.
We used the blender once and it worked great. It was put away and not used again until last week, when we switched it on the power comes on but the blender won't start.
We dont have the original box but have the instruction manuals.
She returned to Sainsburys and was promptly told no receipt no help by a rather disinterested customer services person.
Her bank statements only show larger Sainsburys purchases as the blender was bought with other items.
They gave her a leaflet stating no receipt no help.
Is there anything we can do?
Or is that it - the blender looks as new as it has only been used once!

sometimes if you only have the orginal box, they can determine from various stock labels etc that it did come from that store, there may also be date information about delivery into the store, all Sainsburys stock deliveries are computerised....then again....if you you have nothing at all....your final option may be search out the manufacturer online and contact them direct....don't suppose the one you bought was a Sainsburys exclusive?I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
The same thing happened to me TODAY!! i bought an ipod speaker doc for my daughter 2 weeks ago after she assured me it was compatable with her ipod touch! She didnt set it up straight away, and i didnt keep the receipt because i didnt think id need it, but she told me yesterday that it wasnt compatable, she'd made a mistake, so we took it back this afternoon, all boxed and obviously unused, and the woman on the electic o!!!!er was unbelievably rude! i actually remember her being rude to myself AND 2 elderly customers when we originally bought the item,, she just looked at me and said 'its policy, we will NOT refund you' i had already said i didnt want a refund, an exchange or gift vouchers would have been fine',, but she just said 'we dont do that!!,,' i explained that id NEVER known that in any store before! ' she actually argued with me!! saying-'well i cant believe that, you wouldnt get a refund without a receipt, and you would have been told that when you purchased it!'' I told her i certainly wasnt told that!! I have NEVER known someone is a CUSTOMER service industry treat her customers so poorly! i honestly will never shop at sainsburys again! id love to know if that was correct,, i asked to speak to her manager, and she rolled her eyes, and said 'well, i'll go and speak to her if you want, but she'll say the same as me'!!!! she then came back, saying the same rubbish,, so i asked for the managers name,, at which point she became hesitant, and looked at another cashier and then 'came up' with a name... i am soo angry about this!!!0

If you were treated in that manner you have two options, 1. Write to the store manager and tell him/her you were treated like a piece of dirt and you would like a reply to your letter. 2. Write to head office in Holburn London and tell them the same.Like good food and drink?
Try Hotel Chocolat and Baileys.

The whole situation has been caused by yourself, the employee told you the company policy and you have refused to accept it and continued arguing for nothing, i can't believe you have never known about this policy in other stores as it's standard for pretty much any retailer anywhere, the only reason you think this employee gave such bad customer service is because you didn't get your own way.
[Edit] Just to add your situation isn't the same as the OP as they had proof of purchase just by the sounds of it the employee they dealt with didn't know how to trace transactions by sales amounts/date from the statement, if they had rang customer services (assuming Sainsbury's have a contact phone number) they would of been able to deal with this in a matter of minutes and gone back to store for their refund.0
