Should i send the package to the US?

Someone has sucessfully bidded on one item i am selling based int the USA, Nashville. I'm slightly suspicious as he looks like a new user, so there is no feedback, but he has paid for the item through paypal.

i have sent a message to him to confirm the address to send the package is correct but have not recieved a response.

Should i send out the Item seeing how he has paid?

Thanks.

Can I ask roughly how much is the item, and is it a phone?

If it did happen to be a phone then be aware that sending a phone worth over £32 overseas will not be covered by Royal mail regardless of the service you use.

Bearing in mind what Soo has said, apart from phones if you had it listed as international bidders you really should send it. Just check address is confirmed and post by Airsure. But I would agree waiting until you get a response first.

Is there something I have missed here? Because I am unsure what the actual problem is!!

But just in case, please can you clear up the following?

    1. I am assuming the item was made available 'worldwide' regarding the postage?

    2. I am assuming you hadn't put a disclaimer in your ad saying that buyers with a low or zero feedback shouldn't bid?

    3. I am assuming you have received the full payment (including the internationa postage costs) via paypal?

    4. I am assuming that you have the buyer's address through paypal? (If he/she has a new account then it may say 'non-verified' but that's just because it's a new account!)

If the above assumptions are correct then you have 14 days (I think!) to post the item otherwise the buyer could begin to take action against you for not sending it. I strongly reccommend you send the item using a service that gives you proof of postage (recorded/special delivery).

Not everyone new to ebay is a scammer, and after all, you have been paid for the item!!!

So unless there's something your not telling us, I really don't see what the problem is??

    Youre completely missing the point.

Just send the parcel with tracking, that way you have proof of postage etc should paypal ask for it in the event of the customer claiming he/she never got it.

Ok, so I got the postage thing wrong! But I don't see how that's 'completley missing the point' and I actually thought my comments might help. Man, you've really got it in for me today!!! Please take your sweeping statements elsewhere!!

Your reply was really sarcastic.. confirming points you knew to be the case anyway... as though there was absolutely no reason to be worried about the transaction when from experience Id be slightly anxious.

Sorry, Ill go easy on you from now on. *shrugs*

His clarification was a perfectly sensible way to deal with a post from someone who it appears might not uderstand the ebay rules (as you have shown, and indeed admitted you do not).

It is important to ensure that you have an exact understanding of the facts before making a recommendation.

And what exactly have you contributed to the post?

The seller has every reason to be suspicious. I no longer accept paypal on many items as paypal is too risky. And whats more risky than selling to someone with no feedback!

The problem with things in a written format is that one can't 'read' expression. My reply was actually wanting to clarify points that I didn't know to the be the case, hence my assumptions!! I certainly wasn't intending to be sarcastic! I've had my fair share of bad experiences on ebay too, but I couldn't understand why the seller was suspicous, unless one of my assumptions was incorrect?

  • For you information it was a toy worth about £40.

From the comments it sounds like i am fine to send it off so long as i have proof of postage. I just thought he might pull the payment back somehow while in the post.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
