Thanks everyone for all your comments.
I have had a look around and see there is a Durham game on the Satuday 15th january, so maybe I can get a ticket and he can go to that and if I manage to get a ticket for the Sunderland game he will be even happier.
Any other advise will be appreciated
 Thank you all so much

Durham play in the Evo-stik Division 1 North which is effectively division 8 of the football league if I've counted right. They're due to play Woodley Sports (from the Stockport area) on 15th January and it'll be pay at the gate. It's very rare for clubs at this level to sell tickets in advance because the crowds are so small. Durham played Radcliffe Borough today and the crowd was a grand total of 101, the lowest in their league.
Personally I'm a big fan of football at this level, I watch Colwyn Bay who were in Evostik Div 1 North last year but got promoted so they now play in the Evostik Premier . What you'll find is that unlike places like Sunderland if you go to Durham you'll be able to stand wherever you like, you can swap ends at half time and there won't be enormous queues for the snack bar or the toilets at half-time . The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water . The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

I know fans who won't go to the away derby games because they cannot bring themselves to give money to THEMNewcastle v Sunderland match at the end of this month has not sold out and it currently on general sale so I see no reason why that may not be the case for the return match.0

How long are you in Sunderland / northeast for?? They do great stadium tours at the stadium of light so you might be able to book one of them during your stay. I've never been to tyne wear derby (they're too scary) it was bad enough at a wear tees derby and theres not so much hatred between those 2.:beer:0

            Hi again guys,
Would the Sunderland v Spurs game on 12th February be easier to get a ticket for?
Would I just be able to buy a ticket when they are on sale ?
 Thanks
 Flora xYou can't please everyone.

There would be no problem with that one.
If you are after a good hotel, the marriott in Sunderland is fantastic.0
