Yes it was given back to me, and then she asked for it back again.
I don't know if the building society phoned the bank. The manager came to the teller's side and told her to issue me with another £20 note and then she advised me to buy a pen. Actually I thought it was cheeky saying I should buy a pen, when she had issued the dud note. I would have thought Building Society would scan their notes before handing them out to customers.
So anyway thanks for the info on where to buy - I'll get one for each of the family.0
