Best Sim-Only Deal for I-Phone 3G?

My sister-in-law who lives in Singapore has just got a new I-Phone 4 and sent her old I-Phone 3G to us thinking my son would like it. It is obviously locked to a Singapore network but she thought I could simply get it unlocked and stick my son's Virginmedia PAYG Sim in it.

Having had a quick search on the internet it appears that only a few networks can use I-Phones and VM isn't one of them.:(

So I assume I will have to get it unlocked at a shop and sign up to a sim-only deal? If so can people recommend the best deals around?

Any advice much appreciated.

Got on to my in-laws through Facebook and they said the phone was unlocked through a factory re-set. I have read in some places that you can't use I-phone with VM, but on a cable forum I saw people saying they have I-phones on VM. So does this mean he could stick his VM Sim in and it would work?
  • You can't buy iPhone through Virgin but there's no reason why you can't use a Virgin sim in one. Not one that I know of, anyway.

    You could look at:-

    GiffGaff
Tesco £10 per month on a 30 day contract
T-Mobile £10 per month on a 12 month contract (if you can still get it)

Look which is the best coverage in your area.

GiffGaff & Tesco both use O2 Network

    Virgin use T-Mobiles.

Remember to have some Data included & the cost of going over the amount, Tesco can be expensive if over the 500MB limit.
