Cat hissing and growling at her kitten. :(

They were still feeding from her until about 2 weeks ago  and then she went straight on heat
I can tell you now, this is exactly why she is turning against her kitten Shady - she is already in heat again, she's gearing up to get pregnant again, and her current litter (or just the one left) will be a threat to both her and her new babies' food supply. She will now be viewing Shady as an imposter, a danger to her 'next' lot of babies.
For as long as she is in heat, you need to make sure she is kept away from Shady. She may very well kill him. I've seen it almost happen with feral cats I rescued, where the mother came back into heat and nearly savaged her babies until I stepped in.
As soon as you can, you must get her neutered if you want to keep Shady (even if not keeping him she still needs neutering to avoid any more kittens!)."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Not much good news from me I'm afraid. When we let our cat have one litter of kittens we kept one of the boys. This was three years ago now and she has never stopped hissing and swiping at him. She's never done any serious damage although we have had to take him to the vets when scratches have got infected a few times. I thought that maybe it was just her though as she is a naughty tortie!Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Soreen Kierkegaard 1854.0
