    Hi,

have a look here, might help.

Have you tried to remove it through tools, options?

Don't use that website. It has a poor reputation.

If you use Firefox and want to selectively block cookies from your computer, follow these instructions.

    1. Click on 'Tools' at the top of your screen
    2. On the menu that appears click 'Options'
    3. On the next menu click 'Privacy'
    4. Click 'Exceptions' which is located centre right.
    5. On the next menu that appears type in the name of the website that you want to block, then click 'Block'
    6. Click 'Close' then click 'Ok' on the remaining menu. Job done.

Alternatively, if you don't want any cookies, follow steps 1 to 3 below where it says 'Accept third-party cookies' choose the option 'until I close Firefox'. Then every time you shut Firefox it'll clear all your cookies.

Another thing to bear in mind is that if you watch any Flash content these will put Flash cookies on your computer which usually don't have an expiry date and are difficult to delete. Install the Firefox add-on Better Privacy which will cure that problem.

    ^^nice link!
  • You guys are marvellous - however I think I'm stumped unless I try the dubious site. I'm on internet explorer that I downloaded recently, having had probs with ie 6. Not sure what version I have.

Do you think this cookie will cause me problems if I leave it? What alerted me to it's presence was a window that popped up telling me I had a trojan and to go to a web page to fix it. (I disconnected immediately, cleared browser then scanned - no infection found.)

erm, can u try Firefox instead -- does the problem with the suspect cookie still occur??

also, u scanned with what? mbam? what's your existing virus setup??
  • I scanned with ms se courtesy of Martyn, (have to cough to patchy history with protection) loaded after the event.

Am I right in believing firefox is another browser but with better capabilities than ie? I did have a go with google chrome when upgrading from ie6 but my acer struggled with it and it used 3x my usual download usage.

I have similar problems with protection - hence the on/off situation. Its not too bad at present but previously I could make a cup of tea in the time it took any application to open. I think the ccleaner last night did it a power of good, bar this blasted cookie.

erm , IMO, I would not touch IE with a 500ft bargepole!:rotfl:Go with FF or Chrome or Opera or anything other than IE. Security? this is what I use: Avast+Windows Defender+ MBAM + NoScript (the latter makes browsing bomb-proof, but not idiot-proof :rotfl:)

    HTH.

Can anyone recommend a free cookie cleaner? I've picked one up that won't delete from the temp folder.

I'm not a whizz at this, so something simple if possible.

    Thanks
I just noticed erm; with ccleaner did u opt to clear out all temp files too?
  • Yes, I think I cleared out all temp files, both in ie and windows. Can't check the ticks at the mo as I'm on another pc.
