Help cmos battery low!

I've just turned on my desktop PC and before it booted up it came up with the message "cmos battery low", after continuing all my settings were up the wall so I guess the battery needs replacing. The question is what kind of a job is this and where would I purchase the battery. After loads of help on here I've managed to keep my PC running like clockwork, replaced the hard drive, upgraded the memory, added a dvd drive but as yet never replaced a cmos battery. Your help is much appreciated.

CMOS battery is located on the motherboard.

It looks like a watch battery.

As for the size and voltage you'll have to check the battery that's already installed for that

Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...

    Extremely.

Unplug the PC. Pull the old battery out and push the new one in. It really is as simple as that.

As long as you don't take 1 hr to change the batteries over you'll be fine.. The CMOS stores the bios information so the longer you leave it the more problems you'll have

Thanks for that, next question:- If I have less than 1 hour to fit the battery I would be better off getting the battery beforehand but is there any way of knowing which one without stripping the PC? It's an AMD Duron(tm) 1.5 gb of ram 1.00 Ghz if that's any help.

If >>>> means you will have to manually set the BIOS to the required settings and your clock and date will revert to day of factory build .

All the modern PC battery's are identical type CR2032

    jje is correct

Onejontwo shine a torch on the battery and you should be able to make out the battery brand/size/voltage etc.

You'll find the battery you require quite possibly in a local watch shop or something or maybe even sainsburys/Tesco. Don't fret they arent a rare battery lol

Take a pic of the CMOS battery and PM it to me if you can and i'll see if i can make out what battery you'll need

Thanks for all the replies, now as for the bios settings, I've never really messed with these before so I'm assuming I won't have to reset these??
