You will probably get improved mpg from a decent service but there is no getting away from the fact that short, urban and stop start driving kills your mpg figures but it shouldn't be that bad. Did you have a previous car? What was it like?
When you take the car for its service make sure you mention its poor fuel economy and any other issues that you know of.0 -
The OP's mpg has probably been knocked for six by the recent cold weather. The man without a signature.0

I'm not going to let anyone lecture to me about how I can or cannot use my paid for, well maintained, taxed and insured car. If YOU don't like what I do with my car then tough (that was the polite version).
Most of the time we walk - except on the two days when DD1 has gym and we pick her up, go home, get her fed and changed and straight off to gym.
I am not lecturing YOU :j
supersally asked for advice, I gave her mine. Don't see what that has to do with YOU?
I would not expect to get manufacturer's urban mileage on a 1 mile journey :A"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

On the other hand you probably won't. Nothing to be done if this is a school runner. Price to be paid for spoiling the brats. We had to walk the 2 miles in my day:T

I wonder if OP is aware that doing short trips and hardly ever letting the car warm up is actually doing more damage to the vehicle than giving the keys to a boy racer and telling him to race from lands end to john o groats.....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
