Looking for a new phone + free stuff
I've been looking at getting a new phone soon as my free internet on my iPhone runs out in a month.
I really like the look of the HTC Desire (Don't know if its worth getting the HD one?).
I can remember a friend getting a free PS3 when he took a contact out, and I want to get something for free (although is it free? :S).
From looking around the internet I got taken to some dodgy looking websites, but found that Money Supermarket compare the best deals with free stuff, so think that they would be OK to use.
I can get the HTC Desire for £180, plus £35 a month plus a sony[dot]co[dot]uk/product/vn-w-series/vpcm13m1e-w Sony Vaio laptop[/url]. Get 1200 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited internet (or as unlimited as t-mobile put it as).
I've done a little bit of maths, o2 do the same phone, similar minutes/texts/internet for £45 a month, over 24 months it works out at £1080. With paying £35 a month plus the £180 for the phone in the first place it works out at £60 cheaper over the 24 months.
Is there anything hidden in the cost?
This is the link to the buymobilephones[dot]net/mobile-phones/HTC/HTC-Desire-Free-Sony-Vaio-Mini-M-Series-White/T-Mobile/T-Mobile-35-(24mths)/7361472?adnetwork=af site.
Many thanks!
(sorry cant post links yet!)

Thanks for the reply!
I guessed that it wasn't free, but is it a good deal? From what I can tell I am getting a laptop cheaper than if I brought it separately with the phone? Or am I being really stupid and missing someone really clear? What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
Yes but are you buying something you really need? Do you really need 1200 minutes or are you just taking that tariff for the laptop? I've seen the Desire free on £30 tariffs which have had good amounts of minutes and texts plus unlimited internet. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Quite.
OP - Of all the hundreds of 'free gift' offers I've seen, I can count the number on one hand that were actually better value than buying separately.
1200 minutes is alot, this is what's pushing up the monthly cost (disregarding the 'free' laptop). If you don't need this many, there are *much* cheaper monthly deals available.
Depending on which network you're currently with, a retention deal in the order of £20/month for 18 months with 600 mins, UL texts and 1Gb Internet could be achievable on the Desire particularly as the HD is now out.
Buying a Desire outright and then going SIM only is also a frugal option.0 -
Whats the desire on PAYG £330
+ your normal spend on calls etc .

I've looked around a bit more, and found the site onestopphoneshop[dot]co[dot]uk. Owned by Carphonewarehouse I believe. Got the Desire HD for free, £25 a month, 600 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited data. Plus being on T-Mobile I get free texts/calls to my family due to a add on my step dad pays for.
Even if I don't use all those minutes/texts, its still cheaper than others as the phone is free.
Has anyone heard of onestopphoneshop? Going to look into it a bit before buying, just in case they are a dodgy site lol. What is pi? Where did it come from?0
