  • ok fair enough

I just say the same thing to people when they get credit scored for mortgages - not too many credit scores

But back to the OP - she should appeal rather than actually apply again

They should ask if they failed on the credit score or the credit check, they are two different things.

The credit score is basically how many points you get because of your circumstances and income etc

The credit check is the actual history check through Experian et al.

If it's the latter, they should apply to experian for a copy of their credit report to check there are no anomalies, then apply again once it's been put in order.

If it is the former, maybe your friend might wish to apply again with a "double-check" on some of the questions- eg amount of income and expenditure, time at addresses etc. An extra point or two could make all the difference.
  • the person keying the account for customer would probbably not know why it failed

A friend recently applied online for a Premier Direct Current account, but got a quick rejection saying that they couldn't offer her that one, but would let her have a current account.

I guess this rules out the referral for both of us, which would have been nice, but, more importantly, she wanted a bank account that would offer internet facilities, with a debit card.

Would it be worth her while applying direct to an A&L branch, rather than online?

Otherwise, can anyone recommend another bank? She doesn't want to switch her wages to the new one straight away.

    Thanks.

What facilities did they offer you on a normal current account?
