Santander can be a nightmare at times. There is never any logic to why their tranfers do or dont go via faster payments; their call centre can be terrible too.

But..... we currently have 5 of their current account. 3 are just coming to the end of their 6% period and the other two still have some time to run and are paying 5%.

So would I use them for my "real" current account activities - No!

But they're a great way to get a better rate of interest than generally available, with instant access to your funds, all for a minimal bit of online banking each month (or SOs if you cant be bothered).

And maybe you can also bag a £100 sweetner too along the way.

Just my opinion... hope it helps.

    Don't Switch.

I switched ignoring the advice and now running pillar to post to get the things sorted. They closed my barclay account ,trnsfrd all direct debits and i informed employer of change as well.I didn't get paid as santander has returned the salary. The debit card not working and then lies from them that other company never sent the money, direct debits are not confirmed by the respective companies, etc. Finally they accepted that there is a block on account which they don't know why.they told me to call in the morning but when i called today and visited the branch as well as- they were clueless as the accounts department opens only from monday to friday.i have left without any access to money and account.their letters a lie which says all confirmed, blah blah.

    they are the worst

I've 'switched' but haven't. I have moved a single d/d (TV licence) from a third bank account to comply with using the switching service and will cycle the £1000 from Santander and back to comply with the the funding requirements.

    Job done.

Maybe a bit late for OP but I would say forget it.

I also thought, what can go wrong, transfer an account with one DD and get £100 bonus and 5% on £2,500 for a year.

I can't be bothered to go into detail but I closed my account last month after only 2 weeks. A £100 bribe wasn't even enough to keep me with this shower of wanks for 3 months.

Switched to santander with no problem at all. Applied online during bank holiday, account opened less than 3 days after, dd switched 2 weeks later, got the 100 incentive 2 months after. All is well.
  • Another person sucked in by the £100 and 5% "offer".

Unlikely. The OP posts these threads (88 so far - and counting) and frequently doesn't return to them. And most of them relate to info already freely available by simply reading similar threads.

You went through all my threads & counted up how many i made like "this"?

Hell fire. I wish i had your spare time!!

Anyway, i thought i had actually replied to this thread, but it seems not. Thanks to all those who replied & offered advice. I'll not be going anywhere near Santander after this thread.

No. I've come across them repeatedly over the months. Where you post a thread and then basically ignore it ...... rarely acknowledging other people's responses.

I don't have to count the threads ..... takes two mouse clicks to get the thread count from a username. Just a modicum of research ....... you should try it sometime.
