It is indeed a sad day for those affected. Are any of you Kinloss locals?

Think the Defence cuts are pure stupidity - we shouldn't rely on anyone else for our Defence - allies now but what does the future hold???

Yes cut the penpushers and paperwork but protect the frontline and supply lines.
  • Not looking good for Lossie either, oh well i will be a civvy in 18 months anyway!

Spent 5 years at Kinloss, the best tour of my 25 years service! A great place to bring up your kids not always appreciated by Southerners until they'd been there.
  • I think Kinloss and Lossie will go, a real shame as I had some very happy years up there, simply beautiful part of the world.
I think Morayshire will be almost destroyed by the closures, I am not necessarily that sorry for some of the locals though, as quite a few were anti the RAF bases and Moray was one of the rare SNP constituencies, always seemed bizarre that the majority wanted to sever ties with Britain when Britains defence personell were such an essential part of the economy. :(

Dont worry. The government is paying £7 billion a year in aid to other countries like China, India, and Pakistan so they can develop their own nuclear weapons programs.

Neither should we be spending millions of pounds to allow the Royal Navy to have a destroyer floating around the Carribean or the Far East while there are people sleeping rough on the streets.

Exactly what operational expertise do the Royal Navy gain from visiting sunshine ports that they couldn't get from floating around the shores of Norway?

What exactly is the point of the Red Arrows, except to provide an opportunity for a select few to visit foreign climes and stay in 5 star hotels. . Ditch these glory boys and retain another couple of hundred troops.

The MOD state that the Red Arrows are of benefit to British Industry and wave the flag. I wasn't aware that was the purpose of the military? The capabilities of Hawk Aircraft are well known, this is just an arrant waste of the tax payers money
