Want to cancel virgin media internet(due to bad connection)

I think i'm in a bit of a weird situation and need a little help.
I'm currently with virgin media for broadband(+phone) and TV, however i've been getting a very poor(almost unusable) connection for quite a while now and i've been told it's due to a local area issue over and over, and no given much more info than that. It's getting stupidly frustrating.
However, i'm about 6 months into my 12 month contract, and i'm unable to get TV through an aerial so rely on cable for that. So basically, i'm wanting to cancel my internet/phone but keep the TV. This is so I can go with a phoneline based internet provider.
Any ideas if this sounds possible at all? Or if anyone has had experience with cancelling virgin media mid contract? As I understand there's a fee to pay, but does this still apply if you're cancelling due to poor service?
Thanks for your time!

Hi
I believe you can cancel claiming its not fit for the purpose it is supposed to be knowing vm they will try and charge you. also if they try and charge for early termination of broadband you could say you will cancel all your services see if that helps might get them to sort your broadband out for you. worth a try
hope this help
regards ste0 -

Contain VM complaints as they usually get things sorted (go through the web form or phone and go through thinking of leaving.

if you like i could buy the remainder of your contract and transfer the remaining months to my service. PM me if you're interested.0

You say you can't get TV by aerial - what about FreeSat via satellite?0

Have VM agreed that they cannot supply the broadband you are paying for?
If you can get this from them in writing then you will have a much stronger case for terminating your contract.0 -
I managed to get out of a Virgin Media broadband contract after 9 months and got one month refunded. I put evidence to them that showed what speed and ping I was receiving. First letter they refunded one month's fee and promised to sort it out. The problem started again about two months later, so I wrote to cancel and managed to get out of the contract. They even refunded my overpayment.
PM me if you want to see the letter I sent them.0 -
thanks a lot for all the replies guys, much appreciated!
I'll keep pestering VM about said problems for a few more weeks then claim poor service if it isn't fixed. That letter will be very helpful, glider3560, so i'll drop you a PM cheers.
p.s kwikbreaks, i totally forgot about freesat.. i'll take a look, nice one!0 -
