24 hr crireria for tax credits

this new 24 hr rule for coupleshow will it effect me?:
my o/h works 18 hrs earns £10 to much per week to claim c/a for me but does do all my caring needs, this is why she cannot work more hours,
so as she is only working 18 hrs and i dont work does this mean we will loose wtc, or does me being on dla have any bearing on this , im on hrmc and mrcc

Your partner will have to increase her hours to 24 - your disability makes no difference.

as long as you get dla middle/high. theres nothing to stop someone else caring for you and claiming carers allowance ( a friend or a relative)
  • but who is going to care for 35 hours a week for less than £54?
    shocking!!!

I thought the 24 hours was just for people with children?

Rather than expect your 12 year old to spend even more time caring for you, could you use the extra income that your OH gets for the extra 6 hours she work to pay for the extra care?

A 12 year old will be at school for at least 30 hours a week, more with after school activities so a min of 24 hours can easily have the bulk done within those hours with maybe just a few hours over them if 9-5 job.

The OP is disabled; so probably needs a lot of care from his wife - therefore, not possible to increase hours.
