    Hello Folks

Crazy week this week getting into the swing of things in the new job and trying to establish a routine with getting DS to nursery. The job is going well. By Wed I thought it might not be the job for me, and neither did the other 3 who joined the same day as me, as we are all experienced external recruits and they did not really know what to do with us until the project we have been hired to work on starts but they have got us doing other project work in the meantime which will mean less time twiddling my thumbs and more time getting to know the business.:)

The four of us that started on Monday get on great together and with our manager which is a real bonus:D

Tax credits are sorted, well I have given them the info they need. I really don't undertstand the system. I told them the bit extra I will be getting this tax year from the new job and estimated DH extra bonus income and they sent me £54. (confused smillie:)here). I am not expecting to get any help with childcare due to our salaries.

Money wise things are looking good. We repaid the £300 we borrowed from DH parents 2 days after we got it as I got an £1800 tax rebate. My old boss rang to tell me I was getting a £300 bonus for the 3.5 months I was employed last year which is bizarre. The year I get made redundant and the year after I get bonuses but not for about 4 years when I worked there???? I have stuck a lot of it in savings, it has covered the shortfall in our income and expenditure and DH and I have had some extra spending money. I have not had any since November so DH has insisted I have what I am 'owed' as he says if I don't take it I will end up not getng it and that wouldn't be fair as he always has his. I am desperate for clothes so I will use it for that plus I got an i phone s I can do internet banking and MSE at work:o Is that :money:?

I will add more to the savings at the end of the month and will be able to re do my budget end of April when I get my first full pay. DH is due a bonus next month which will be nice:)

I have re ordered my mortgage internet banking stuff so when that arrives I will do a 'what I owe the world' figure (pinched that idea of Michelle;), pity my numbers will be same as yours x 10:rotfl:).

I haven't done any ebaying this week. Still sorting out parcels from last week. Must remember to write won't post out side UK on the description. One item sold to a girl in Russia who hasn't paid and never will:mad: Also someone has complained about an item we sent saying it's not as per the photo/condition and I am livid as it is.:mad: I think he has bought our film SLR camera thinking it was a digital and hasn't realised until it has arrived and is making up all sorts, threatening disputes and generally being rude. It's ebay for god's sake not Harrods! I am new to ebay and now realise that people who make their feedback private have something to hide.

Been a bit naughty and had a couple of takeaways and a couple of bits have ended up been wasted but this weekend we are getting fed all our meals so no cooking for me until Monday:T Well, one is a meal out so not so MSE but at least I am not cooking for once:)

Right, off to pack our bags and run around like a blue a*rs*d fly as we are leaving to go to my Mums for the weekend at lunchtime.

Our weekend away had to be cut short a DS was not well and I came down with a stomach bug. Both DH and I had to have time off work with it and I had to take parental leave as DS was too ill to go to nursery and DMIL caught the bug so couldn't have him either. Not a great way to spend the 2nd week of a new job.

Fingers crossed DS is on the mend as neither the GP nor the doctors at the hospital could make him better:(

Moneywise we have overspent on food as we have not stuck to a meal plan and bought what we fancied eating including some ready made stuff and some bits to tempt DS.

The only MFW thing I have done is re registered with internet banking for the mortgage and got a settlement figure on the 2nd mortgage so I could calculate a what I owe the world figure. See new siggy below.:)This includes 5 payments on our HP whcih ends in August.

I worked out what the figure was in Jan (when I last had sett figs/balances) and what it is now and was shocked that it has come down just over £3000. Granted, most of this is the repayments to 2nd mortgage but even the £40 odd I pay to the 1st is really having an impact on bringing the balance down.

I can't wait to show the figures to DH later today as I think it will really push us to save and overpay the 1st even more.

Haven't had a chance to list any more items on ebay with us all being ill but will try and sort out some more stuff for the weekend. Only want to put 5 or 6 things on as trying to pack and post the 18 items I sold the other week was hard when I was back working full time.

DFIL found a laptop on the bus which was not claimed from lost property so he has been given it. They have given it to us and we have paid to have the password removed and now have a really good 2nd laptop. I wanted to sell it but DH has decided to keep it so we can both have one. Not really necessary when we both have i phones - boys and their toys;)

I can't take claim for the owe the world idea - i pinched it off courgette. All the best ideas are pinched from somewhere. ;)

Has your DS had an upset tum? I found my DS1 used to regularly pick those up when he first started nursery. I think a lot of it was the change in diet from what he had been getting at home, and it didn't agree with his tummy. I ended up having to get MIL up from london to watch him while i went to work, and then i ended up ill with the same thing anyway. He'll soon build up some immunity to all those bugs though.

DS has had the runs for 2 weeks. Took him to the docs today and she thinks the bug has made him lactose intolerant so no milk for him for a while. He will be able to go to nursery again this week thank god! At least he will have had everything by the time he goes to school!

I have been paid for my first 3 weeks in my new job this week, the 2 weeks of JSA they had messed up and my bonus from my previous job this week. I think the bonus and the wages have been emergency taxed so I am hoping there will be a bit extra due back to me soon:)

DH is due a bonus when he gets paid at the end of the month and I can't wait to start putting money in the savings:T I just need to see exactly what the bonus is before I divvy it up around the accounts.:D

I have also got the last bit of ebay earnings and the ISA interest to add to the savings account and £80+ waiting to pay out on TCB.

Today I made my first AF order. I looked this morning but when I went to do the order some of the things I wanted had gone like coffee and crisps:( Still managed to spend over £54:o Got some of the thorntons chocolates to give as gifts:)

DS is back to normal but didn't settle well at nursery on Friday because he hasn't been for 2 weeks. I am sure he will get back into the swing of it next week. My job is boring, well I am not actually doing my job yet, but they have just dumped us in another class as they don't seem to know what to do with us until the project we are hired for rolls out which appears to be months away:( I am going to start looking for something else as I do not think the job will be challenging enough once it starts properly. Everyone is lovely and very friendly though which is a positive.:)

I must get a grip on the food spending and make proper meals again from this week. We are buying too much carp and not eating proper meals as I am not organised enough on an evening.

Ooo I forgot to say that I have received a £1000 pay rise so will be getting about £75/month extra. I am going to up my mortgage repayment by another £50 so my monthly overpayment will be almost £100 before I make any other small transfers to the account. I checked the mortgage balance on line and I can't believe how much it has gone down in the last few months and I have only op the bare minimum as I was not working. It's a real incentive to keep paying.:D:T I can't wait until the end of the month to do my 'what I owe the world' figure.:D

  • Nice :-) I have a tendancy to think '£1,000 wouldn't really notice it', but of course you do - as you said, around £75 and I guess the £50 is after tax. And that £50, each month,... well, we all know what regular montly payments do to our mortgages don't we?! :p

Well the £50 I had earmarked to OP (with £25 to saves) has had to be alocated to my MIL who has now decided she wants £15/week to look after DS 2 days a week. I know I shouldn't feel so furious about it as they have a low income and are saving me the nursery fees it's just the fact that she has decided this now after she has been looking after him for 3 weeks. I think it is because she thinks we can afford it. My mum would never ask for money to spend time with her DGS but she lives 100 miles from me so can't do it.

Not much money saving going on here over the weekend but all spends are within budget but there is not much of my Misc/entertainment budget left and I need a new curtain pole for the kitchen so this needs to be reigned in a bit.

Turning over a new leaf from tomorrow and getting back on the :money:and MFW wagon:D

Eeek my AF order is coming tomorrow and no one will be in to sign for it! I wonder if I will have to arrange for it to be redelivered? God knows where I will out it. DH is excited as it contains pot n00dles:rotfl:

Energy co we changed to about 3 months ago have dropped our elec dd by about £5 month as we are not using as much as we said. I think it's because the TD broke and hasn't been fixed yet.

Not much else happening here. My new job is so boring I am losing the will to live :( I am still waiting for them to let me start doing something which is my real job instead of sitting around watching someone else do it.

I really miss the time I had at home and in my old job where I had longer breaks and could sort money things out and job hunt. I just don't seem to have any time to do much at all these days. I am sure I will get back into a routine now DS is well.

Off to bed to warm up:)

My AF order arrived and I have had to pack a lot of it back in to one box as I can't find anywhere to put it:eek: I am really please with it so far, just need to make sure I use the flours, scone mix and cookie mix soon and don't leave it sitting around, especially once I have opened it.

Has anyone had the scone mix before? Can you add stuf to it to make fruit and cheese scones etc.?

I have had my first part wage, with lovely emergency tax taken off, my bonus from my old job, emergency taxed and DH has been paid plus a big bonus:D My 'what I owe the world figure' has reduced by £850 so far this month with the mortgage overpayment DD still to come off. It may go back up again if we decide to book our summer hol as there is only a little bit saved in the holiday pot. I have had to estimate based on the last 6 months what comes off my 2nd mortgage as I can't manage it on line but I have underestimated so I should be in for a nice suprise when I order a settlement figure quarterly.

Not spent a great deal on food this month so far but I am spending too much at work on cups of tea etc (cannot stand the free machine tea) so I need to get an insulated mug today and use that in a morning and get more bits from the sm to take to work. I did get given a £2 voucher for the canteen so will use that this week. It is actually quite difficult to spend that in one go as it is so cheap:cool: The only positive about sending is that all my change is going in the mortgage pig and savings sealed tin;)

We also need to buy some gloss paint and a curtain pole and hold back for the kitchen as DH is taking a week off work this month and has promised he will get the kitchen finished. It was fitted in October:o

DH is taking DS to the shops today to get my first mother's day card:grinheart Think I may be getting HFW family cook book too:T

Must go make a shopping list/meal plan while I drink the last of my tea or I will never get my rear into gear today.

I've used the scone mix, and i make the 1Ib batch and add 100g of dried fruit, and they are gorgeous. I haven't tried cheese ones.
