B&Q do a great plastic gutter scoop for about £8, but I always use a 1ltr pop bottle and cut it to create a scoop. One guy I found on web does it with a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Great results. BUT do nor expect anyone to do it for nothing.... £3..... ouch!0

Large 5 bed detached plus double garage. Window cleaner charges £100.0

2 of them take around 3 hours. We live 50 yards from a small wood so they end up filling loads of bin bags with leaves.0

Would you believe within a week of posting this (before I'd done anything about it) a chap knocked at the door saying he cleans the gutters for most of the street, comes round every year, front and back for £15 all in! Having got the price range from here I leapt at the offer, it's worth a gamble at that price. Of course it's been very windy every day since then so he hasn't actually come yet but fingers crossed.
(On re-reading it sounds like I paid up front  but it's ok, he said he'd come for his money the evening after he does the cleaning).
I wonder if he'd mind cutting the wire to the burglar alarm while he's up there ! (The only time it goes off is if we had a power cut, not the most worthwhile alarm :rotfl:)0 -

You'd be better off getting an alarm engineer in to either replace your back-up battery, or disconnect the sounder internally.0 -
Hi, hope you don't mind me piggybacking on this thread but have been reading with interest. One of my gutters is leaking massively (torrents of water down outside wall of our kitchen extension in the recent heavy rain) but I can't tell whether it's really bunged up and overflowing or whether it's broken.
I can't go up a ladder as I have a big phobia! Can anyone recommend someone in Hemel Hempstead who cleans gutters? I guess the whole lot need cleaning as well as this one possibly fixing so I don't mind paying someone to go up and have a look.0
