Thick, black tights for school?

I bought some black ones in a large Tesco (extra) about 10 days ago for my dd (age 7-8). there weren't many in older sizes tho.0

I buy them in M&S, they're slightly more expensive, they're "climate control" ones or something. MIL bought them for her a while back and they're really good, wash really well and don't go bobbly.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again

Marks and Sparks. When I was at school we used to wear 2 - 3 pairs of the thick tights at once to make them even darks.
It also used to be the "in thing" to wear as many pairs of knee high socks as possible slouched down. We used to buy our shoes a size bigger lol My record was 7 pairs. Dear God!0 -
I get mines for small person (actually she's not so small...she's 9 on Monday and all her clothes have been age 11 for a while:eek:) in BHS and also John Lewis bestpud. I rate them both equally.
Nice and thick and they wash well and I find that the crotch doesn't tear much in either of them...good since my daughter has a habit of pulling her tights up from her knees - despite many many lessons on how to pull tights on after she has been for a wee wee *sigh*:D0 -
Over the knee socks are coming back into fashion, I think.
I have seen thick black tights in M&S, Sainsbury's, Tesco,Asda, but none that fit my ladies size 10 almost 12 year old...
I've found the occasional pair of 13-14 age but they are never long enough for her( maybe her legs are too chunky for them? )
So this year I've bought her 70 denier opaques and am hoping she doesn't go through them too quickly. One year she managed to rip a pair of woollen tights a day till she admitted there was a snag on the underside of her desk - I got her to tell the teacher, who swopped desks and then it was fine.:)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

When i first looked i thought they only had the opague ones but hanging above the knee high socks they had the thick woolly tights.0 -

Is it acceptable to wear knee high socks again? When I was a teen that was a *big* no-no...
DD's got many and varied types of over the knee socks - plaid ones, grey and pink "leopardskin", black with pink hearts, stripey ones, etc.... I find they jazz up her uniform very nicely
