Did you provide evidence to MSE as to why you thought the post was offending?
Wouldn't they have had to do that for MSE to remove the post?
Or do MSE just delete posts without any investigation if one person asks them to do it?

As far as I'm concerned, MSE don't really investigate posts - they have an "Investigator" on the team, but that person/those people take a geological age to investigate, rarely announce their findings, and rarely (if ever) reinstate post text that they edit out for the period of the investigation.

Hello SpammyTheSpammer, I apologise for the late reply but I thought this subject was over. But something – intuition? – made me come back onto the site. Unfortunately, you force me to reply because if I don’t, you and presumably others will think you have caught me out, and that will negate what I said about a fine organisation that is run by disabled artists for disabled artists who, despite their problems, have chosen to establish proper careers rather than succumb to charity. For that, I have deep admiration for them because I’m not sure I would have their courage. And this is becoming very unfair on them. It is a simple matter to find out about this organisation and, no, I have absolutely no connection in any shape or form professionally, personally or in any other way with MFPA except as a concerned member of the public who hates to see uninformed attacks, especially on such people.

Yes I did. It would have been a simple matter for them to check the facts, and they obviously did

I can't speak for other investigations, but in this case I gave them the information to check, and they did so with great speed. They also let me know they agreed with my findings - pretty difficult not to, actually, because whoever they removed had clearly just made their allegations up, and done so rather badly. So I fear you're being unfair on them - although I wouldn't dispute that you may be right about other forums - I simply don't know one way or the other
  • Mweya, can you answer SpammyTheSpammer's questions please?

I think many others would be interested in the answers too.

It sure is! A highly rated link is the Wikipedia one that clearly states the objections to & criticisms of this organisation.

Unfortunately, this is not so true regarding the disclosure of accounting information stating remuneration of Directors and distributions to artists.

My own attempts to find the information, that you seem to have at your fingertips, only reveals web sites stating that the AMFPA is either a scam or fraudulent organisation. Frankly, my personal feeling are:-
    • that I want nothing to do with the AMFPA
    • I feel that you protest far too much as "a concerned member of the public"
    Sorry....

I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.
  • This thread is ridiculous. I know nothing about this organisation and their methods and operation may or may not be ethical.

What's absurd is the idea that if they were registered as a charity, they would necessarily be paying the artists more than if they are not. There is zero reason to suppose this. Zero. There's as many unscrupulous and unethical charities being run for the benefit of people working for the charity as there are unscrupulous and unethical businesses. Yet still the words "it's for charrrrittty" fool people. It's incredible.
  • Judging by their prices Oxfam is now a business.

    What an odd statement.

Who do you think Oxfam is trying to help? People buying things from their shops?

Their whole purpose is to get as much money as they can out of shop customers which they use to relieve global poverty. Their prices need to be as high as the market will stand.

Hello MothBallsWallet. I apologise for the late reply, but have not been on this site since my last posting. I won't answer SpammytheSpammers post. I'm happy to answer politely phrased queries, as yours is, but not people who stoop to questioning my integrity without even knowing me. Anyway, some people aren't interested in listening with an open mind, no matter what you say. Wikipedia has been quoted before on this subject but, by its very nature, it isn't a safe authoritative source in the way the OED or other official encyclopedias are, and it has the honesty not to claim to be. Having said that, I am not in a position to confirm or deny what is said on there because I haven't researched it. But whether right or wrong (a) it is out of date and doesn't relate to today's operation, and (b) the allegations - even if true - did not relate to the UK operation anyway, which is the one we buy from in this country. As I said, research is simple. Just go to the UK MFPA's website. (the site moderator wouldn't let me give you the link on the grounds that I am "a new user). Their site is very open about the UK operation, and they are very willing to discuss things openly if anyone just asks them. ScorpiondeReftrouser is so right. I have just completed research into the aid community which is supposed to be helping Africans in Africa to escape poverty, and been utterly shocked and horrified by what I have found. Not least, the massive waste of UK tax payers' money, money which could have been used to help those in desperate need in our country - or, perhaps, used to great effect in the NHS? Now, if any of you are interested in a REALLY worthwhile cause to attack, let me know, and I'll pass my research on to you.
