Galaxy Apollo instead of Desire?
Options
Hi, Quite taken with grandson's htc Desire this summer BUT I think it probably has more stuff than I need.
All I want is internet access, a few texts and some calls, and street maps which we would use quite a bit.
yesterday I popped into a Tmobile store who offered the Galaxy Apollo as an alternative that would be fine for my needs.
Is this a good alternative? and could I use it on any network at a later date as I seem to remeber grandson said could use his desire on any network.
Thanks for any help!

A lot of posts on the Orange San Francisco on here and I strongly recommend it.
Not as slick or as good as a Desire which has HTC Sense a few HTC Widgets and does feel a bit more quality, but for £99 (ex discounts) and sites online unlock for £1-2.
It IMO needs a bit of fiddling out the box to get it to a similar style (not much change homescreen style, set up the pre-installed touch pal keyboard to your liking). Certainly not a Desire and iPhone killer but at £99 it was never going to be.
Orange have a habit of screwing good devices with 'Orange bloatware' but this isn't too bad even with the Orange apps installed.
Very impressed with it so take a look.0 -
I got this phone last week. Its a great all round phone easy to text, the internet is great. Only negatives are poor battery life as the apps run in the background which uses the 3g internet and gps. Also i think the back of the phone looks a bit plasticly and cheep.0
