It was quite funny on newsnight last night... the condem minister was absolutly destroyed, made to look a real !!!!. I don't think the conservatives and liberal democrats have guaranteed good press coverage over the next five years with this move.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I've said it before and I'll say it again. When I look down the list of direct debits, bill payments and general spending we do each month I'm constantly amazed at how much pleasure, information and interesting stuff I get for just that little £12 a month. I can't think of anything else I buy that gives me better value for my money.0

I'd love to see an example of this "socialist reporting". I can't see it myself.0

Great for you but there are lots of things that I would prefer to be forced to spend my £145.50 on than funding huge pensions for BBC luvvies. You are welcome to pay my share of the BBC licence fee if you think it's so great.

When people argue the beeb is useless, I always feel the arguement is to compare it to ITV & the absolute drivel they serve up on a regular basis.
I can't recall the last time I actually watched anything on ITV, it really is that bad.
BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, world service, BBC news 24, radios 1-7, local radio coverage.
For £12 a month. It is such a ridiculous bargain it isn't true!
BTW StevieJ, according to TV licensing, if your only means of watching is via iplayer, you still need a licence. I recall in the summer during the World Cup they were warning business' not to allow staff to watch via iplayer, unless the business had a licence, as the business would be liable.
http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

You get it for that price because everyone in the country is coerced into paying for it.
I used to think that the BBC news was better that Sky, but it's really not. Programmes like Jeff Randall Live are twice as good as the equivalents produced by the BBC. They actually have guests with experience in their field that know their !!!! from their elbow.0 -

Not if you are only using the iplayer as a catch up service.
You do not need a licence to use it then.

Socialist BBC sounds like the view of a serious right wing nutter'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Not true, the only time you need a licence is if you watch live tv through I-Player.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
