Agreed, you would need to try very hard to get lost in the US.;)0 -

I hope that you are not being serious..:)0 -
Motorway signs are very clear and huge (not to mention 3 or 4 warning you when the turnings are... ).
Off them you'll only really see the road numbers. These are pretty plentiful, but there aren't too many "London 40" signs0 -
think it depends which state you are going to, havent driven thousands of miles in the US we took a Sat Nav for the first time this year and its so much easier. saves on map reading or taking directions for a start, but for me the best thing is that in some states even on the main roads a sign can be very close to the exit and many exits are hidden so you can miss them, also at night when there is poor lighting in non built up areas they make sure you get to where you need to go.0

Finding your way around urban areas is a lot easier with a satnav. Anybody who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves, never visits anything other than the main tourist attractions or, more likely, has never used a satnav.
Like anywhere, you can drive hundreds of miles just following signs... but it's the usually last few miles where you get lost.
Having said that, I do prefer to keep a road atlas in the car too.0 -

Agreed. I have driven before in the states and over in Oz and NZ too. I found in florida all the markings on the roads had been belached by the sun, interstates have a habit of changing from being called the I10 to the Ed Winchester highway , and then back again. Also it is sometimes not easy to know if you need to go NES or W ! Over here we sign roads so they say M25 Gatwick rather then the compass direction.
Also visiting slightly off beaten track places means no signs at all worth mentioning in any urban area of any country. .0 -
I find driving in the US OK, but the freeway signs are a PITA. You need to know the Junction Name: most do not have numbers. A satnav would be great for driving around urban areas as well - with a heads up on turns, etc.
I now know my way around SFO and Las Vegas, but wouldn't hesitate to use one in an area that I didn't know.
Can help you from straying into areas that you don't want to be in.0 -
If you have an Android phone you can pick up CoPilot USA for $4.99 on the market. I've done this for our upcoming US road trip.0
