Always complete on a Friday??

Ours isn't sold and therefore not "moving in" same day, so exchanging and completing I don't think is a problem, plus house buying is empty.Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!

If there's just the two of you and it's cash, then the only restriction might be that one of your solicitors might say "It's the way I organise my work, I always know that on Fridays all I do is complete...."
But, you can choose any Mon-Fri you want really.
Ha ha ha! It's ALWAYS CASH PN! ALL the money (cash) is transferred by the banks, whether it's from your own personal bank account, or the bank/building society's bank account who are loaning you the money for the mortgage!0 -
CHAPS are same day transfers so take a couple of hours to go through.
Depending on your solicitor they may refuse to exchange contracts unless your deposit with them as this avoids problems.
You CANNOT exhange until deposit has been paid!
On day of completion there is usually a deadline of 12 noon. The old owners have to be out by then. If they're not you can charge them for waiting time and can even throw them off the premises. If they haven't packed up all their stuff and got it out you can hire a skip, dump it, and send the bill to them.
So no-one needs to SWEAT waiting on a Friday afternoon! What rubbish.0 -
Some solicitors apparently don't insist that the deposit is with them before contracts are exchanged. This means you get problems as detailed elsewhere in this forum where the deposit can't be sent to the seller and so the contract can't be completed.
You can't exhange UNTIL the deposit has been paid. Have you ever bought a house?0 -
on our 1st house we completed on a Wednesday, it suited me better as I had secured the Thursday/Friday off work for a long weekend. This time our buyer wants a friday completion date for the same reasons so the plan (so far) is as our house we are buying will be empty we will be packed and ready to go 1st thing, as weill our buyer and funds will be transferes solicitor to solicitor at opening of business so hopefully we can collect keys pre 11am. Personally I would rather of exchanged the thursday and then lived in box land for a few days while we totally unpacked everythingMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

I have requested a Wednesday now, so will see if thats acceptable for the buyer. I had the same thinking as you LilacPixie and then mid - end of the week can work well for both parties. I'm just dreading the actual move now as I have so much stuff! Think I'm gonna have to chuck out my chintz!
Thanks everyone for you input!0
