Tesco - 5p a litre off fuel

It was advertised in the Sunday papers. Filled up at our local Mr T's this afternoon after a holiday in Cornwall, saved £3+ on a £50 odd pound spend.

Usually when this promo is on Mr T's price drifts up a penny or 2 above Asda and Morrisons but at the mo they're cheaper than both of them by 1p at 117.9 for diesel - at least local to me.
I haven't ever noticed an end date for the promotion on any of the ads, coupons or in-store marketing but it usually seems to last for 2-3 weeks.0 -
To be honest, I wouldn't shop at Tesco, not alone spend £50 there for a rubbish 5p off a liter......
Tesco products are often more highly priced and therefore, any saving made on fuel will be lost in store.
Tesco petrol prices are not the best out there either, therefore, my advice is avoid this offer0 -
Tesco petrol is 2p per litre more than the cheapest near me anyway. So that would only be a 3p/litre saving. And the nearest Tesco station is miles away.0

I've no doubt they'll have floated their price up a couple of pence per litre when I next pass my local Tesco station. It happens every time they do one of these promotions - claim to offer 5p off but ramp-up the price beforehand, so the saving is marginal.
The supermarkets entered the petrol business claiming they'd bring down prices. It seems to me all they've done is cause a worrying reduction in the number of filling stations as they've driven the small guys out of business.0 -
I can remember when Tesco's offer was 5p off for every £30 spent! Seems to run month about with my Tesco.0

True- some advantages but they have indeed driven costs to an extent independent petrol retailers have no chance and number of stations has fallen massively.0 -
I find Tesco petrol stations around my area the cheapest around so an extra 5p off that is great. Don't think you can generalise that all Tesco stations are expensive.0

The trick is to keep the voucher(s) until they have stopped giving them out again and the prices have lowered a bit. Just be wary of the expiry date on them.
I managed to fill up with diesel for 109.9p / litre when the average going rate in the area was more like 116.9 at the time. Of course I was running on fumes but it's a company car so not my bill if the injectors get clogged.
70 litres in the tank and 10 litres in the metal can. Sorted.0 -

I guessed, a few days ago, this was going to happen as they have been cynically increasing prices locally in readiness, 3p/litre over the past 10 days!
However, as I do shop at Tesco and spent over £50 this morning I will fill up before the 3rd Nov (when my voucher expires) to take advantage of 113.9p/litre Diesel.
The last time they did this a voucher I had expired after the promotion ended and the prices dropped so I was able to use said voucher against the reduced price.0
