My laptop is two years old and its an inspiron 6400 with avg free antivirus, what happens is when i am on a website it gets stuck and shows 'not responding' then I do alt ctrl and delete for task manager and I cant even end the task, its says close the program but then gets stuck again.
Its obviously a file somewhere doing a loop and I end up switching it off and starting again every time.
Its windows vista and I am on o2 broadband.

How recent is the problem?? If very, would a system restore help -- roll back a couple of days.0

Your Inspiron 6400 would have originally had only 512Mb of RAM installed. Have you ever upgraded the RAM to 1Gb or 2Gb?
Vista really needs a minimum of 2GB RAM to run smoothly, the lack of RAM could account for your freezes.
Please confirm how much RAM you have installed.
Also, confirm whether you regularly use CCleaner to clear out all the temp files and other junk that builds up when browsing.
You could also usefully run a Malwarebytes scan to confirm whether or not you have any nasties lurking in your system. Ensure you update the program before you scan though.

Are you sure that you've downloaded the right ccleaner?
Get it from www.ccleaner.com and ignore the paypal boxes and simply download from either filehippo or piriform link. Ccleaner is free to download and to use.0 -
