Feel a mess - skin, hair etc......

Hi there
I've had similar problems, oily hair and very oily/sensitive skin. Although I still do wash my hair everyday I've now found products which help maintain a fresher look for a lot longer. As for my skin type, it is so oily to the point where I had to pat my face for excess oil up to 5x a day. Not anymore thank goodness!
For my skincare routine (day/night) I use Madara Deep Purifying Foam, rinse off with water, followed by Laura Geller's Moisture Compound SPF 30 - this is oil free, and feels great (do not be put off by its seemingly rich texture – it sinks into the skin beautifully and by no means does it feel or appear greasy).
If I'm applying makeup I then prepare my skin with Bare Escentual's Prime Time Oil Control followed by their makeup which is amazing. Try the Matte range - it will be worth spending a little more on these products (the starter kits are great value) to get the results you want. These days I only re-touch once a day if that: an absolute god-send! Both BE and the LG products can be purchased from QVC. However, I would advise talking to a BE beauty consultant first and getting a makeover (so much fun!) to ensure you get the correct shades for your skin tone etc
My hair products have changed somewhat and instead of buying products for my hair's condition ie. "oily hair", I now buy for my hair type which is rather fine. I love Philip Kingsley's Body Building Shampoo and if you need a conditioner for the ends just try Boots Expert Leave-in Thickening Conditioner a caring, lightweight conditioner that restores volume, moisture and healthy-looking shine to fragile hair. It works a treat for me, but I only use it say once a week as my hair is short.
Later on in the day (if I'm venturing out) I apply Batiste Dry Shampoo. This is amazing for mopping up excess oil at the roots and it gives wonderful volume! It was only until I actually tried it did I become a convert – now I stock up on the trial sizes so I have one on the go at all times!
Good luck, hope this helps!0 -

Hi, thanks for this. I have been eyeing up the Boots thickening leave in conditioner, not knowing whether to go for it or not. I do have an Aussie one but its not doing much for me at the moment.
Skinwise I have started using Liz Earle moisturiser and muslin cloths with my Clinique cleanser, so far it seems to be working but I don't know whether or not to go back to wipes at night and use a foaming wash in the mornings.
I am using Simple shampoo at the moment but whatever I use my hair just goes flat and greasy. I am also using the conditioner that comes with the hair colour I use, I could just use that once or week and a spray one the rest of the time, I may give that a go.0 -
Yeah I found Liz Earle too rich for my skin, but whatever suits you. All I would say is that sometimes the simpler the better: perhaps leave the wipes for a while and stick to a gentle foaming wash morning/night. The one I suggested is very mild and you can skip the toner with this. Your skin might just be getting confused and reacting as a result.
As for your hair again, mine also used to go flat and greasy, the Simple range for me personally didn't offer any respite. However do try try the PK shampoo and use the leave-in conditioner just twice or once a week and see if that helps. One week off/on. The Simple shampoo may just be too rich for your hair type.0 -
Hi, thanks for this, do you use a separate night cream aswell? The Liz Earle range just has the one cream for day and night. My skin is very dry but because I am going through the menopause and having hot flushes it is getting shiny aswell so maybe I need something a bit lighter.
The Body Shop do a nice light foaming wash in the Aloe Vera range. I will deffo give the spray conditioner a go. My recent hairdresser has advised me to use one of these and I got the Aussie one on the off chance but it does nothing for me.0 -
Yes I'm using the Laura Geller moisture compound which I think you'll love because it caters for all skin types. Do check out the reviews on QVC online if you're unsure. I was using Shu Uemera's 'blue' range which is hydrating and ideal for oily skins and very light. It's about £23 pounds though. I'm sticking with Laura Geller however, as it performs best for my skin. It also has a brightening effect.
The Boots conditioner is very light but I'd still avoid spraying it at the roots if your roots are oily. I also 'I Love Juicy' shampoo by Lush which helps aide this hair condition. It may be worth talking to someone at Lush about your skin/hair problems as they'll give you free samples.0 -
Hi, thanks I'll check out Lush, is that shampoo one they have in the soap bar?0

No it comes in a bottle. "Big" by Lush is also good by the way0
