Royal Mail - leaflet delivery

there is nothing for a postie 'to check'
the opt out is part of the paperwork supplied every week with the physical D2Ds
if the opt out isnt on the duties list then it isnt in place
... you should be preparing yourself for the destruction of the RM you know
Like I said - a poor process designed by Royal Mail
If, by destruction, you are referring to the sell off of Royal Mail then it is always possible that these poor managers could be replaced with people who care and are better at their job.
In my experience, my local postys are good at their job.
But not everyone is bitter and twisted, yetThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

im not bitter and twisted
im a realist
if you believe a privitised RM(well i should probably just say mail delivery company) will care and do a better job then good luck to you
if price rises, staff cuts and dropping the USO are improvements
then you are in for a treat0 -

I would say try having a word with your postie, I speak to mine most days have a laugh and a joke with him. He tried to deliver a load of junk mail to me the other week and conversation went like this
"Christ mate, its bad enough you bring me all these bills with my name on, now your sticking this stuff through my door aswell"
"I havent got any choice as you are still on blah blah list and you need to opt out"
"No worries, I will just repost them here" Cue me walking to the bin and sticking them in "Did you know I had two mailboxes??"
"No but I do now"
I am lucky here though as postie at my old house used to try and stick parcels through the letter box, thats if he even bothered to bring them from the depot. But thats a different story0 -
I had a similar problem with trying to opt out, and after sending off at least three door to door opt out forms I rang to complain only to be told that the forms must have got lost in the post. It's not a huge hassle to throw the stuff away, but I would prefer not to receive it at all as our postman is very enthusiastic and really shoves the stuff through the letterbox which quite often wakes me up as I don't work regular hours. It is annoying to discover that I have been awoken by stuff I don't want, but I have given up trying to get the Royal Mail to actually take any notice of my requests. I do feel sorry for my postie though as given the ratio of junk to mail he would probably prefer not to have to deliver any more than he has to.0

and if he gets caught using your 'other mailbox' he can (and most likely will) be dismissed and most likely RM would go for a prosecution.
i know i wouldnt risk a job to save someone the trauma of dealing with a few leaflets0 -
Just put it in the recycling box, whats the problem, we get the bumpf as well, takeaway leaflets from dominoes, a leaflet from aviva and the rest and it goes in for recycling0

When I posted the form the first time it took a very long time to be actioned - IIRC I had to chase it.
I was then sent a form to sign saying I was happy not to recieve the stuff (duh)
Things did stop coming after that.
The kicker is that you have to fill in another form after a year! And whenever the postie is on holiday and someone different is on, we get the junk again. Custardy, is this unavoidable? My TV is broken!

the form has to be done every 2 years
remember RM dont want anyone to opt out and an opt out for life is impractical as they would 'lose' the revenue if you moved
as for getting D2D's when a regular postie is off
thats down to managers and training to ensure the systems are in place to check/inform on opt outs0 -
i am quite lucky my dog chews up the junk. never touches the bills though! bad training! the stuff that comes through with a prepaid envelope i get a sticker put it over the address and write a letter or send something to a friend. the envelope arrives at a mates house and the company gets charged! or i stick all the junk i get into the envelope and send it back! i know its petty but why should i get all the rubbishHi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
