Tell that to the partners and executive committee of one of the most successful law firms in the world, one which the partners rely heavily on marketing and business development to help grow their business substantially every year.
Anyway, the value of my job is a private matter between me and my private sector employers. They are not a charity. If they didnt deem me worthy of my vastly inflated salary, they wouldn't pay it. That they do, suggests you're talking out of your a**e, unless you know better than they do how they should spend their money. I shall forward them your contact details (if you'd like to share them) so you can advise them how to run their private business.
My job does not cost the taxpayer a single penny. As such it's usefulness or efficacy is of no concern to taxpayers.
As a substantial taxpayer, on the other hand, the usefulness of public sector jobs is very much my concern.0 -

Set up a business and do no marketing whatsoever. See where that gets you.Set your goals high, and don't stop till you get there.

Marketing is only bad if it is a substitute for a good product. Most companies either have a good product and poor marketing or a bad product and good marketing. Great companies have both. Putting a product in the hands of people who want it though good marketing is not a non-job. Misleading people into thinking a bad product is good through marketing is a non-job.0

Don't worry about it. Lemonjelly gets a bit of a semi everytime I post. I'm used to the attention.0 -
For the love of god, who mentioned qualified midwives? The point was a general point about the rise of non-jobs in the public sector, and I used the example of breast-feeding coordinators, of which it seems there are dozens - if not hundreds - of them up and down the country.
You did - the advert you linked to was for a midwife....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
The problem is that not only will these job cuts affect essential services, such as the things the council provide, Revenue offices, Border Force, Probation, police, prison officers etc., etc., they will also (allegedly) cause another 500,00 jobs losses in the private sector because so many private companies are reliant on the local economy being bouyant or government contracts.
A million more people without work, couple with the social costs this causes, will end up costing much much more than it would have done to keep them in work.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

To be confirmed soon......
Isn't it enough that they'll lose their jobs? Now it seems that the Tories and their Lib Dem apologists are actually going to start a cull. I guess it'll give them some sport now that fox hunting is banned.0 -
I see London boroughs are going to announce operational mergers. The Condems are clueless that the austerity will create a few giant backoffice outsourcers and service provides. Local democratic accountability will go! Your local political representative will just be told by 'Steve' in Mumai "computer says no"0
-
With all this austerity stuff - is the cost of Parliament being cut by 25%?0
