What Credit Card Should I Get?
Comments

Mate did you read his post properly, credit card newbie has no credit history and your giving him/her a suggestion to card tart, just see those pigs fly past again!!
Credit card newbie do you have any credit history atall
Also what is your income?
Yes i did read it mate.
IF he/she got accepted for a 0% credit card and if he/she was making regular payments up until the 0% deal expires - The they might have built up a better credit rating ...to take out another 0% credit card.... and balance transfer... However this wouldnt be needed if newbie can afford £500 a month which to me is alot!
Balance transfers are simple bud, its nothing techincal.
Anyways ... if i was the other person and didnt feel confident in this .. then i would take the loan option and spread it over 48 months, yes you pay interest, however you would see more of your money on a monthly basis... and it still would be building his/her credit history.0 -

You have been on here longer enough ralphy to know that the chances of someone getting a 0% product in this current climate with no history of ever having credit will almost be very unlikely, and then suggesting going for a AMEX card that people with years of superb credit history may be turned down for.
I still think he needs to build up a credit history like many others and start at the bottom0 -
Will definitely give it some thought. I'd like to at least take one out to have 'just in case' if I'm abroad or what have you, if not to make a one-off purchase. Credit cards are definitely not something I want to get into for frivolous spending.0

Dude i didnt suggest the AMEX.
Newbie has already been accepted for the loan... Again if you read my posts... my advice is to stick to the loan and build up their history whilst paying off her dental treatment.
If she really wanted a CC then by all means she can apply for one... ( if she has been accepted for a 6k loan - then her credit profile must be reasonable to good).... however turning to my orginal point her monthly outgoings would be huge (£6000/13 = £500) just to make it 0% loan.
Hence go with the loan option and spread the payments....
Personally i would only buy something on a CC 0% if i could pay it off comfortably within 13 months ( offer duration) otherwise you'd be forever worrying about transfering balances...0 -

If you really want a CC then
go to this site https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/
enter your details - and it will let you know if you could take out a barclaycard...
This doesnt leave a mark on your credit profile.... just a pre-application check. Let us know how you get on.
But i wouldnt use one to fund a £6k purchase ---> personal opinion.0 -

Thanks for all of the advice. Have tried the Barclaycard pre-application and it has offered me a few choices of cards I would be approved for. I think I will stick with a loan option for a large purchase and take out a cc for absolute emergencies not a large purchase.0

For someone with no credit history whatsoever you have now been offered a 6k loan, and barclaycard pre-app has said you are entitled to a few of their cards,is there something you ain't telling us by any chance!!0 -
Ha ha! I've been receiving a steady income for a while and have no debts or credit cards but have a mortgage and have always paid all of my bills on time!0
