Arguing the toss with Tesco customer services grrr

I always check my Tesco receipts as I reckon 40% of the time there is an error. Not that I mind as I love to cash in on double the difference normally!
Anyway this morning I did my normal shop with 2 young kids in tow and when I checked the receipt there were 2 mistakes so I patiently queue at CS only to be told that the mistake on the item I bought -
'ANY 2 cooked meats for 3 pounds' which is prominently displayed with red banners on every shelf 'any 2 for 3 pounds', all the meats are individually labelled 'ANY 2 for 3 pounds' in fact means that the 2 meats have to be the same :rotfl:so I argue with her and she is adamant she is right, I show her the shelf and yes she agrees it is labelled 'any' but it in fact means the two have to be the same! This offer has been on for a few weeks and I have been buying the different meats but no, she is obviously right of course.
So anyway I stood my ground and although they didn't admit they were wrong she did refund me DTD which took my grand total to 6 pounds something refunded as there was a mistake on another item too. Well worth it for the hassle but I could have done without it today.
Does everyone else read this offer like me or have I been thick?!

If it say's ANY 2 FOR £3 across the shelf, you expect to be able to mix 'n' match0

Tescos have got a real problem with the definition and application of the word 'any'. I've had this problem in the past. Any does not mean any to them, and they should be taken to task for it at ANY opportunity. I bought an 'any for £2' deal on something, which did not work, because it was only one thing that worked (any kind of one jar thats the same as all the other jars ????). You can always quote the dictionary at them (any = whatever or whichever )Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

i had this a few weeks back with cheese spread and baby bel cheeses, The label stated any 2 for £2 but i was charged full price for both without discount, i went to cs and was told the any 2 for £2 was any 2 baby bel or any 2 cheese spead, like yourself argued the point with them and got my money back, but they then took away the labels so that other customers wouldn't get the offer. In my opinion if it states any 2 then it means any 2 not 2 the same product.0

Usually, there's a qualifier on the label stuck to the shelf, which lists all the items which are included. Otherwise you could in theory have a packet of M&M's and a packet of Ham, if they had the same label on them.0

What I really hate at Tescos(and most of the supermarkets)is when you are doing a big trolley shop and things have been put in the wrong section and it only comes to light when you get home. Now I guess I will have to closely scrutinise everything. :mad:0

when i got my cheese spread and baby bel, the large label had a picture of both on it and stated any 2. the shelf label also stated any 2 but the cs advised it didn't mean any 2 as in mix and match, it meant any 2 of the same product. doesn't make a lot of sense, why bother having the 'any' part there, why not just say 2 cheese spreads or 2 baby bels. tesco bad for this type of thing0 -

mwa- your not being thick - checked them on line and if you go into the offer it shows all the different ones that come under buy 2 for £3 doesnt mention that you have to buy two the same, and if you add 2 to your basket it deducts £1!skintbint x
