can i just say though, you two looked so happy and in love... i got tears in my eyes! big wally that i am! it looked like a fabulous day and the venue was gorgeous, i adored those fairy lights at the end of the room...
sorry, but i don't think you should sell the shoes, i know you say you'll never wear them again, but the sentiment behind them...i doubt your son will be too interested, but imagine one day showing his little sister the shoes and dress and photos...oh god now i want to get married and have kids! :rotfl:
Aw thank you honey. It was a fabulous day in South Africa and the venue was stunning. I only paid £40 for the dress- it was an eBay bargain!
Oooh I'm still undecided. I just got them out of the box and fell for them all over againDebt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

£200 for shoes and only £40 on the dress ? !!lol
i think you should put them up on ebay, like said above put a reserve on or BIN and see what happens0 -
Yeah that's how I managed to justify the cost of the shoes! But it was the second dress I bought as I lost weight and didn't suit the first one too much, so I've got that to sell too. Blimey I really was good at spending money in those days.Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

I have just spent the day cleaning my wedding shoes to ebay them. They only cost £22 though. But I have managed to get most of the dirt out of the satin by using warm water and the tiniest bit of washing up liquid and a sponge.
Gonna have a second go at them tomorrow.
When we were setting up our venue I asked everyone not to throw anything away on the day as we were ebaying most of the wedding afterwards. My now brother in law said "what? that's so cheapand !!!!!!!". This from a guy who's been bankrupt once and is now so broke with a wife and kid and an expensive house/car/stuff he's about to go broke again.
We are selling: my dress, my shoes, my veil, tiara, bridesmaids dresses and shoes, decorations, basically everything we can. The only sentimental things I'm keeping are the photos and video, a sixpence my husband gave me as a wedding present, and the cake knives and presents and cards people gave us, the jewellery I wore and some stuff from our honeymoon.
Our house would be too cluttered if we kept everything remotely sentimental!Pay off CC debt by Xmas 2017 #095 £0 of £11,416 :eek:0 -
If you don;t wear the shoes, even I as a confessed shoeaholic would say sell them. I have got rid of over 100 pairs of shoes in the last few years (and still have over 50) as I did;t wear them. I only regret getting rid of two pairs...so I reckon you won;t regret selling these if you don;t wear them.
You can get them dry cleaned if you think it will help get a much better price. If you do it yourself, don;t use too much water. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I agree with the earlier poster that no amount of money is worth what value attach to them. I would ask yourself this question - On your twentieth wedding anniversary, will you look back and regret selling those shoes? If the answer is no, then sell them.0

Oh.... I missed the pic!!
Where in south africa did you get married? (I was born there and have lots of family there... just being nosey really!)
Anyway... to the matter in hand... i'd say sell them! But only you know if they're so special to you that you couldn't part with them. But then, if they were that special you probably wouldn't have posted about them in the first place... kept them somewhere safe and never told the hardline dfws all about them?!:rotfl:

I know how you feel about the shoes...:p I got married 10 years ago and still have the dress and the shoes in the wardrobe...!! My shoes are also covered in red dust (the reception venue had a gravel drive which ruined them, and I can't get it out, so its not practical to sell them or wear them again!).
However, my shoes only cost £28(my 3 bridesmaids had shoes at £48 each - it made me a bit sick even then that the bridesmaids cost so much more than the bride!!) so I don't mind so much. Sentimental as I am, if I thought I could clean them up and get some decent cash for them, they would be for sale asap...however, at £28 new, I don't think I would be looking at making a significant dent in the debt, so weighing it up, I prefer to keep the shoes. Yes, I have the husband and the memories, but I also have the dress and the shoes...and the debt!!:rotfl:
