Thanks all
I would prefer a lower monthly charge. Thats why I was think if I go for the contract at 40 month I could pay what i have saved to o2 upfront to in affect pay almost a year at once with a free phone. Save normal monthy charge during thatyear to put towards end 6/8 mths of contract
Does this seem sensible (prob not knowing me!)
Sorry I don't get you there.
You either pay a higher upfront cost for the iPhone, ie buy a PAYG iPhone or pay more for a contract phone; then you can either have a sim only / PAYG or lower monthly cost £10 to £20.
Or
A lower upfront cost for the iphone and be on a contract for 18 to 24 months with a higher monthly fee £25 to £40.
So first option you either pay full price for the iPhone from an Apple store and get a Tesco, GiffGaff, T-Mobile sim or go with something like the Tesco deal above and be on a shorter contract & lower monthly fee
Second option is find the cheapest upfront iPhone cost from whichever network provider, but be tied to a long contract and pay a high monthly free.
As for your O2 current contract, if it's £10 a month and 3 months to go, them maybe cheaper to let it run side by side with whichever new deal and cancel it ASAP or wait and buy the iPhone in Feb then your out of contract and have more time to save.
You're tired to this O2 contract and it's resticting what you want to do, now imagine if it was a 24 month £40 contact you were stuck on and only half way through it.0 -
I was thinking If I took out a 18 mth contract at 40pounds a mth it comes with a free phone. Therefore the money I have saved up isnt needed to buy a phone. So pay it to o2 to cover contract charge for next 10mths, therefore really only 8 mths to pay at 40 pounds mth.0

Which is my second option, low upfront cost but longer contract with higher monthly fee.
Remember if the iPhone is lost, stolen or broken you'll have to keep paying the £40 for the full 18 months, make sure you're fully insured.
Like I said its what you're most comfortable with.0 -
It would be handy if you know someone with an iPhone in your immediate area. They are not the best phones for catching 3G signals.
I have had mine on Vodafone since earlier this year and have been very disappointed with it traveling throughout the UK.
It may well be partly Vodafones problem but where the iPhone wont pick up one of their usb dongles does, hence me blaming the phone.
They have fitted a new sim card in it which made no difference.
Don't be tempted by store demos, they have probably wireless signal boosters in the shop0
