Hi Everyone,
I live in essex. I am having a new Combi boiler Vaillant 831 put in in my 3 bed house and was thinking of putting in a water softener as well. There are just too many choices and i was lost as to which one to go for. The plumber recommended a Monarch Midi water softener and the cost are as below.
Water Softener £491 (7 Year Warranty)
Labour £235
Parts £26
and VAT £131
Total £883.60
Does this sound about right?
secondly, is it the best water softener for my budget of around £800? what do you recommend ?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Sunny

Boiler install for under £900 sounds absurdly low and the labour covers less than a day-does that include a powerflush if required by Vaillant for the warranty.
Is your 'plumber' a Gas Safe RGI? Plumbers are not qualified to install gas boilers. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi Macman,
it was a typo, the question is about installing a water softener, not a boiler

Hi there
I have just had a new Monarch Midi installed to replace an older model.
Your costs look about right for the installation & I have to say that we are very pleased with the unit as it has a high flow rate that suits our unvented water system.
I sourced the Midi unit myself and paid £465 inc VAT.
The salt is costing around £1.50 - £2.00 per week, but we do use a vast amount of water (approaching 1,000 litres per day).0
