Help payg phone purchased from carphone warehouse!!

Hi today I purchased a PAYG phone from carphone warehouse as a xmas gift for my mother in law. The phone is unlocked but a condition of the sale was the purchase of £10 airtime - i opted for the Orange sim as this is the network she is currently with. When I got home my husband pointed out that I had got the wrong phone as there was no camera feature on it! Will I be able to exchange the phone?? The website is misleading as it states that phones on the orang network cannot be exchanged but is this phone classed as being on orange as it is unlocked to any network and i have not even opened the sim???

Thanks:eek:

You have no right of exchange anyway (unless they gave you a different phone to the one you bought), only the goodwill of the shop.

If you've not opened it and not inserted the Sim, then they might exchange it, but it's up to them.

Go and speak to them politely. They might NOT refund but may exchange it within 28 days.

Carphone is very good in this regard.

    Good luck.
  • They don't offer a 14 day return/exchange on Orange PAYG. It'll just come down to how nice the manager is as it's outside of policy.

There is no cooling off period for instore purchases-only for online or telephone purchases.
The phone is now effectively secondhand as far as the retailer is concerned.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
