Should I sell my wedding dress?

At least you are selling yours. I gave mine away to the charity shop after I had paid £55 to have it cleaned!

Would you wash it yourself?
I turned mine inside out and put it on a 30 degree delicates wash in the machine, then hung it on a padded coat hanger on the shower curtain rail until it was dry. It was fine.
I sold mine because of the style. It would have been difficult to alter the bodice to make it bigger/smaller and difficult to alter the length. I thought the chances of me having a daughter who was the exact same height and body size were very slim, so I sold it. The lady who bought it was thrilled to bits, and I'm just pleased she got as much happiness from wearing it as I did. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I did a buy it now on ebay with mine and did very well. I spent a fair bit on a good listing with loads of pics and info which I'm certain helped and was only a tiny bit out of the final profit so well worth it.:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0

Definitely sell it. I've got a wedding dress to sell too- with the tags still attached. Just need someone slim to model it for me (I'm pregnant now) and I'll be ok :-)
Just think how much we snigger at the types of wedding gowns that were fashionable in the 80s- people will also snigger at our gorgeous frocks in 20 years time in my opinion you might as well make some money from it!Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

Mine has beading, lace etc - do you think it'd be okay?

I want to sell mine too. Got married in May, the dress cost my Mum £1125, I paid £75 for it to be cleaned and boxed. Would love to get £500 for it.

Mine was satin, with an organza overlay decorated with lace and beads and it washed fine. There was a couple of muddy marks on the bottom of the train (had photo's taken next to a pond in the hotel gardens!), so I spot treated those, then washed it as normal.
If it's got hoops in, you would have to split the casing and take them out, then put them back in and stitch the hole up after you've washed it.
If you don't feel comfortable doing it though, don't!Here I go again on my own....0 -
I would sell, I kept mine (it's still at my mums) and it's our silver wedding next week:rolleyes: but it would've been better sold when the style was fashionable. Oddly it no longer fits me and yet I am still a size 12....hmmm (I'm a stone heavier though):o0

The wedding dress I fell in love with was the last dress and was th eone everyone had tried on. We went everywhere even the warehouses to try and get a brand new never worn one but couldn't get one so I brought the display one. This had a few marks and I was asking the assistant where the best specialist cleaners would be, she told me that all the wedding dresses they sold just went in the washing machine, not one would get specialist cleaning. We washed min before and after my wedding and it came out fab! So don't waste your money on cleaning ( maybe pure silk would be an exception) but anyone else throw it in the washing machine, mine was beaded, with lace and anything and everytthing else they could sew on it!!!May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080
