Should I sell my wedding dress?

I've sold my horse, all my horse stuff, all my babies stuff, and anything else that's around and hasn't been used in over a week  Hopefully by tonight will know if my car has sold too.
I'm now deliberating over my wedding dress. It cost about 800 quid new. I know it won't fetch that much but it should get something which I can pay towards my debts. It doesn't fit me anymore even (size 12, and I'm now a size 8-10). I have loads of photos, I'm unlikely to let my kids dress up in something that expensive. I really have no reason to keep it - but can't seem to bring myself to get rid of it. Gahhhh.
So, should I sell it? (and if so - where!?)

First of all congratulations on being a smaller size now than on your wedding day!!! It's usually the other way round!
Secondly, what type of dress is it? There is a market for second hand dresses but they are usually the really popular designers (like Maggie Sottero or Charlotte Balbier) or common designs (like strapless bodice with full skirt) that sell well. You should also consider how much you are willing to let it go for because I'm afraid even if you paid £800 for it, in the second hand market you may get as little as £100.
If you want to test the market with it, there is always ebay (have a look, there are lots of dresses on there and you'll get a feel for which ones will sell and for how much) and specialist wedding sites like confetti or Getweduk which have for sale boards that are well used. Make sure you have lots of photos of it from every angle for people to see.
Good luck if you do decide to sell it

Unless your planning to renew your vows at some point and want to wear it again, or you want to hand it down to family which some people like to do, sell it. It will just be taking up room in your cupboard. You will always have your memories of that day.0

I would and am going to ( when i can be bothered to get it cleaned lol)
i will never wear it again, hand it down to anyone etc
and should make a fair bit as its a popular maggie sottero and researching on ebay they usually go for £200 - £300 ish
also as its a corset back i cant even do the housework in it
as i cant get into in on my own pmsl
you could sell on ebay or the for sale boards on https://www.hitched.co.uk https://www.confetti.co.uk

I would sell it. You have happy memories and photos as you say. It doesn't fit you, you're not likely to ever wear it again, so it will just sit around gathering dust.

I keep toying with selling mine. I too, am over a size smaller than on my wedding day. But, my mum paid for it, so is it even mine to sell? I recently sold mine after two years of not being sure whether I should. I don't regret it at all, should probably have done it sooner!:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0

Surely it is better to sell it now while it is still fashionable? If you wait too long styles will change and no one will want it (or not for 50 or so years!). Same problem can occur if you are thinking of passing it down the family. You normally have to skip a generation at least for older clothes to be acceptable.0

I am in a quandry too with this, my dress cost £750 and it would absolutely grieve me to sell it for a 10th of the cost.... but then again the divorce is almost through
......
Life is sometimes a bit pants but occasionally you can wear your french knickers!
