BT Home Hub 2.0 & Linksys PAP2 ATA

I've recently changed from using Tiscali for internet and changing to BT Broadband Option 1 which supplied a nice shiny looking black hub.
All went well but when I plugged in my trusty Linksys PAP2 the Power and Ethernet lights illuminated but neither of the lines illuluminate showing a connection.
I called BT and it appears they do not support this device - is this a cunning plan so that I cannot use my own VOIP provider?
Has anybody here successfully connected a PAP2 to the BT Home Hub 2.0? - I only require "outgoing" calls as I use Voipcheap for the service.
It's not a critical item as BT has stopped/cancelled the BT Broadband after connecting me on Saturday - due to internal incompetence. That's after 2 weeks of internal incompetence to transfer a phone number...
BT Broadband should be available again after the 25th of October - takes 5 days to switch it on - but they seem to be able to "turn off" an order that was supposedly never placed (it was actually) on the day the service was scheduled to commence.
Any ideas :mad:

Well surprise surprise my broadband has been working again since around 6pm tonight!
I'm not saying a word to BT just in case it gets cut off!
Not getting anywhere with the PAP2 - can't even access the web based settings either but the device is using 192.168.1.15 for the IP...
Any ideas?0 -
Normal service has now resumed
It turned out that I needed to user the following login information to the PAP2
ID = user
PW = 1234
Everywhere on the internet suggested the ID = user or admin and no need for a password.
Once I got in, I could see that the IP addresses and DNS servers were completely different to the BT Hub Settings - Voipcheap working fine now on the BT Hub0 -
BT saying that they 'don't support' a particular device doesn't mean that it won't work on BT. It just means that their tech support don't know anything about it.
Which, in the case of BT, covers just about everything...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Having just dealt with a house move - based on my experience - I can honestly say that BT does not have a clue what they are doing AT ALL.
2 weeks without phone service, 13 days to transfer a number to an existing line, the reason for this was a "TOC" on the line which means all incoming and outgoing calls are blocked but the line is active, BT confirmed on several occasions this was not the case but it was. Even after the TOC was removed they said it hadn't been in place according to the system
Broadband was available when it shouldn't have been, broadband disconnected when it should be connected.
Broadband to be reconnected within 5 working days after they cancelled it (not from my instruction of course) seems they can turn stuff off immediately but it takes around a week to turn it on...:cool:
Even the BT Engineers had nothing positive to say....
It's been an (exasperating) education....:mad:0
