OP - put some RainX on yer windscreen and when the wipers ail the rain will bead off.
Also "hammering down the motorway at 70 in the rain" isnt clever now is it...0 -
70 in the rain is fine providing the motorway isn't full of nose to tail cars and the rain isn't so heavy that you can't see as far as your car's increased stopping distance.0

I was going to ask the OP if they had GAP insurance should the dealer/manufacturer offer a partial refund and would it even apply in this sort of instance?
Just a thought.
Hi no I didnt get GAP insurance...When I said to Head Office that I would be writing to reject the car, she asked me if I had finance on it or not .... does anyone know why this would make a difference?0 -
Why has he OP made no mentin of having any contact with Hyundai customer services?
OP get o to Hyundai and get them involved.
HI I have rung Hyundai Customer Services and they have been liasing with the 2 hyundai dealerships. They have given me their "run around" car for the last few days, which the clutch is about to go on, so im back to being scared of driving a car!!0 -

Sorry when I said "Hammering down" I was refering to the rain, and not my driving !!! the wipers were on full speed, and I was following the 4 second rule

            Hi Traceye,
A bit different to your situation but may be useful, about 12years ago I bought a nine month old car which had a multitude of problems after getting no where with the dealership I told the manager I was getting it independantly inspected by the AA and if there was any faults found which the dealers insisted there was not they would pay for the inspection.
The AA said the car should not be on the road so the garage replaced it ith a higher value car and paid my considerable insurance for two years (over £6000) and free servicing for two years.
It may be worth asking the garage if you take it to an independant car electrician whether they will foot the bill to have it inspected to find the real cause of the problem.0 -
Have you had a hunt round the internet e.g

Firstly swapping the fuse out for 30A isn't ideal, but at least they didn't wrap it in tin foil because "it might be getting too cold" :rotfl:
It's probably not a major fault, but the dealerships all work off the same fault finding flow charts..... It needs a proper auto electrician, NOT an apprentice with a copy of "teach yourself car electrics in 24hrs".
Is there any pattern as to when it fails?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Well after the 2nd time it seems as though its every time i use it!! I rarely drive the car and if its raining i avoid going out in it at all..
The 3rd time i was on motorway, been raining very hard for about 15 mins.... the 4th time, i just decided to check them (it wasnt raining) i briefly put the washer on then put on full speed for 1 second and it blew.0 -
Well personally I think it's a wire touching the bodywork/chassis, possibly a missing rubber grommet where the wire's go through the bulkhead into the engine bay.
It's gradually worn through the wiring insulation and contacts with metal when it's been bumping around on our lovely smooth British roads.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
