Massive overcharge with petrol

Christ people, read what he has posted!!
It is not fraud, his receipt says £88, it is simply a mistake.
Go back to the forecourt and speak to the manager, I would expect them to rectify it very quickly.
Depends if the manager is on duty. In my experience, most petrol stations don't have a manager present - just the clerk on duty. A lot of the time you'll find the manager working at another petrol station as he/she covers a load of them and you have to call them.
If the receipt says £88 and not £10 then it would seem that someone else has been mistakenly charged the £10 fill or scammed the OP by claiming they were fuelling from another pump.
In that case the petrol station is facing a £78 minimum loss if they have to refund the OP and I can see the manager be quite obstructive and dismissive. The man without a signature.0 -
Can't see the manager being anything but helpful myself, when faced with the fact the OP has been charged more for fuel than his car can physically hold. Only way to find out is to approch them and find out. If the manager is obstructive and dismissive then there is plenty of ways to get the money back without their co-operation. However this is the simplest and most straightforward way, and should be the first option.0

Possibly not, this is the modern version of giving change of a tenner when a twenty was handed over.
As someone has already said, once you put your PIN into the terminal you have "accepted" that amount.
Also, saying that the car cannot hold £88 worth of petrol is not really an "excuse" - this is why many garages now have a £100 limit on each fill before the pump cuts out - people build dummy tanks into the car to get as much fuel as possible then "drive off".0
