If you want to breach a contract

If you breach the contract the early termination fee becomes payable immediatly. You may not have to pay it immedialty but it becomes due.

Hardly a money saving way out.

Got T-Mobile update only to find out after another phone call that its GSM only even though there's 3G coverage in my area on T-Mobile and it'd have solved the situation

I'll give em a ring. Hopefully I'll get a better conversation than the one I had earlier where the stupid bint banged on about me not complaining I couldn't make calls because I happened to be going on about internet access as well even though the whole issue in this three month ongoing situation was about the ability to make calls. Ended up in a circular discussion and her continually trying to convince me that GPRS is only "slightly slower than 3G and HSDPA".

Pointed out to her that if I wanted just a GSM/GPRS connection, I'd have kept my Nokia 6310i circa 2001 and not bothered getting a phone capable of HSDPA.

I'm quite disappointed. From the late 90's, I was with Orange just short of half a decade. They've seriously gone downhill.

TBH the phone call tomorrow will probably end up going along the lines of me telling them to sod off, whistle for their money and that I'm not bothered about my credit rating cos I've just got the mortgages I want.

As I've moved house, I need to get some business cards printed so it won't be the end of the world to change the phone number on them.

It just narks me off that 3's solution to a congested cell site in our town was to tear down the old one, put up a new one and massively increase the capacity whereas Orange's seems to be "well manually set it to GSM and you can go whistle for the internet access you're paying for"

Well that was an utter waste of time. As long as you can authenticate on the network, you're deemed to have access to it even if you can't make or receive calls and your "mobile broadband speeds" are slower than 300 baud dial up to Prestel circa 1985.

You need to be careful with taking action like that. The consequences are more than just mortgages, it will stop you getting a contract with any other mobile phone company, and much more besides.
  • Hi

I am having the same problem and Orange do seem to have us over a barrel by saying that as long as you can make calls they have honoured their part of the contract. I cannot use mobile browsing but that’s what I wanted my new iphone for. I should have read this post before I started a new thread but as long as we meekly accept this they will keep screwing us and I was wondering. Does anyone know if anyone has taken a network provider to the small claims court and if they have what happened?
I hat the thought that I am going to give them £840over two years for a service that I’m not getting and keep thinking that there must be something that we can do, I just don’t know what it is yet.
    R :(
