Plastering a room is around 300-500 depending on the size, and my local painter and decorator charges £60 a day including paint! - he's quick and very good!
    He is either:
    1. Polish
    2. Not bothered about making any money
    or
    3. Doing it all cash in hand, no insurance etc.

I can not believe that you can realistically run a business on £60 per day. He's barely paying himself minimum wage (£5.35 per hour)
So his painting skills are worth next to nothing and he's going to pay for and run a business on £2.15 per hour for all overheads? (60 / 8 - 5.35)
That works out per year at (52 x 40 x 2.15) about £4400 for everything including paint  You'd better hope he doesn't read this.

Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours.

I agree. Once you deduct Bank Holidays, Saturdays, Sundays and four weeks holidays, that equates to less than £14,000 a year!
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

Why not ask how many days they think the quoted work will take and then work out how much per day they are likely to be getting.

Might give you more of an idea if your quote is realistic or not.

    2.Nope
    3. yes

I may have forgot to mention, that £60 a day was a rough figure - he obviously charges more for non friends (so i guess me posting that here was a bit pointless) :) He will also fit us in between other more well paid jobs.

    I'll get my coat :)
